He was a blacksmith and a manufacturer of iron; had a large shop, and a trip-hammer that was operated by water; employed a large number of men who were engagd in digging ore and converting it into iron. He sas a very active and enterprising business man; was one of the selectmen in1767 and 1775. He made the first survey of the town of Unity, NH.
