21. Joseph PHILBRICK^67,68 was born on 1 October 1663 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.⁶⁹ He died on 17 November 1755 at the age of 92 in Rye, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [his gravestone says 7 Nov] He was buried at Rye Central Cemetery in Rye, Rockingham, New Hampshire, British North America.⁷⁰

From the History of Rye, New Hampshire:

page 457:
"The first Philbrick who came to Rye was Joseph, about the year 1700, and settled near the house of Francis Jenness, in the south part of the town. He was the grandson of Thomas Philbrick, who came from Lincolnshire, England, with Sir Richard Saltenstall, and settled in Watertown in 1630, and removed to Hampton in 1645, and died in 1667, very aged. Joseph died Nov. 7, 1755, in his ninety-third year."

page 489:
"He was the first of the name to come to Rye and settled about 1702 near Daniel Dalton's, near the house of Frances Jenness. He was ordered to court for building a house on the town's land. It is said that his wife was a daughter of one of the first three settlers of Hampton."

Joseph PHILBRICK and Tryphena MARSTON were married in 1685/6 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.⁷¹

Tryphena MARSTON, daughter of William MARSTON and Sabina HERMINS, was born on 28 December 1663 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.⁷² She died on 15 December 1729 at the age of 65 in Rye, Rockingham, New Hampshire.^44,71,73 [her gravestone says 11 Nov 1729] She was buried at Central Cemetery in Rye, Rockingham, New Hampshire.⁷⁰

The book "Massachusetts & Maine Families" says:

"vi. TRYPHENA, b. 28: 10: 1663, in Hampton; m. James Philbrick, son of James and Anne (Roberts) Philbrick, and step-son of her brother William Marston; ten children."

However, this is an error.
