John appears in the 1810 New Hampshire census in New Grantham, Cheshire County.

According to History of Cornish:
"John was a surveyor and stone mason. He had a liberal education and 'instead of being merely a pettifogger, he would have taken high rank among the legal talent of the state.' ( A pettifogger is a disreputable lawyer who handles petty cases.) Had much natural ability and good judgement. As a politician he was an eloquent advocate of the principles of the Democratic party."

John THRASHER and Betsey WALKER were married on 26 January 1806 in Cornish City, Cheshire, New Hampshire.79 Betsey WALKER, daughter of Moses WALKER and Tabitha BARTON, was born on 20 April 1786.79 She died on 25 November 1843 at the age of 57 in Cornish City, Sullivan, New Hampshire.79
