Sixth Generation1230. David THRASHER was born on 7 March 1765 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire.79 He died on 18 March 1819 at the age of 54 in Candia, Rockingham, New Hampshire.79 David THRASHER and Phebe PRESCOTT were married on 22 January 1787 in Epping, Rockingham, New Hampshire.79 David dissented to be taxed for the minister in Raymond. They removed to Candia, New Hampshire. While according to one statement they had ten children, not this many have been found in the records to date. He is possible the David Thrower found in the 1800 census in Rockingham Co., New Hampshire. Candia was incorporated as a village in 1763 from the section of Charmingfare. It was in proximity with Raymond on the east. It is said that when news of the conflict at Lexington reached the surrounding towns the most stalward and resolute young men volunteered to proceed to the point of conflict. Moore in his "History of Candia" says that when the group from Candia arrived at the scene of the skirmish, they found no indications that the hostilities would be resumed, so some of them returned home, but others enlisted in Massachusetts regiments. Tradition has it that when these volunteers went our David Thrasher, then a lad of ten years, followed the troops and eagerly assisted when any odd errands presented themselves, and that he accompanied those sent with Colonel William Prescott to fortify Bunker Hill. Rumor also has it that David Thrasher was raised in the Stephen Prescott home. Although there is no established authority for these facts, the legend has prevailed through these generations. David Thrasher settled in Candia just a few years following his marriage to Phoebe Prescott as most of his children were born there. Fullonton gives the following: When David went to Candia, he took up the grant of land on which his son, Henry, and descandants lived until about 1911 when it was sold to C.O. Townsend. Part of the house is over 150 years old, and the "ell" that then stood at the back was a portion of the first home of David and Phoebe. The nails used were all hand-hammered and were distinctly visible. The "old Homestead" stood just down the hill a little beyond the fence. The country around the farm is quite hilly and rocky. There were at that time 185 acres in the farm, but the first original grant of King George to David Thrasher contained only 20 acres. This old grant is on record at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. David and Phoebe both died in Candia and are buried in the private cemetery which was on the Ben Critchett farm at the boundary of the two farms. Above information came from "The Heritage of the Descendants of David and Phoebe Prescott Thrasher of Maine and New Hampshire", by Amanda Lee Thrasher, 1934-35. Phebe PRESCOTT, daughter of Stephen PRESCOTT and Elizabeth HEALEY, was born in June 1768 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire.79 She died on 23 March 1831 at the age of 62 in Candia, Rockingham, New Hampshire.79 [Another source says 28 Dec 1831] David THRASHER-28863 and Phebe PRESCOTT-28845 had the following children:
