Obituary of Eva Elvira (McCarty) Winslow (1872-1958) Funeral Services were Jan. 11 for Eva Winslow. Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Eva Winslow Saturday, January 11th from the Methodist church in Beaver City, Reverend Theo Krumrey officiated at the last rites. Eva Elvira McCarty, daughter of Moses and Elizabeth McCarty was born September 2, 1872 in Salimonia, Indiana. At the age of six months she came with her parents to Furnas county, Nebr., where with the exception of one and one-half years spent in Delta, Colorado, she has spent her entire life. On Saturday evening she suffered a severe stroke and was taken to the Oxford Hospital, where without regaining consciousness she departed this life January 7, 1956 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to John M. Wentling September 7, 1893. to this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. On April 3, 1916 Mr. Wentling passed away following a long illness. She was again united in marriage March 18, 1926 to Delbert Stephen Winslow, who preceded her in death August 16, 1949. On Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956 she was united with the First Methodist church. In the fall of 1956, because of her failing eyesight she moved from her home to the Mayo Nursing Home where she greatly enjoyed the company of the other guests. She looked forward each week to the church services brought to the home by the ministers of the community. She is survived by seven sons, Wiliam L. Wentling of Oxford, Earl E. Wentlig of Santa Paula, California, Fred G. Wentling of Gardena, California, James H. Wentling of Oxford, J. Russell Wentling and Basil T. Wentling of Beaver City and Lloyd M. of Oxnard, California; and one stepdaughter Mrs. Pearl Everhart of Bonners Ferry Idaho, one brother James A. McCarty of Beaver City, 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, numerous neices and nephews and a host of friends. She was a kind and loving mother and endeared herself to all who knew her. A duet of Mrs. G. W. Shafer, Jr., and Mrs. C. E. Rogers sang "Saved by Grace" and "Have Thine Own Way." The duet was accompanied at the organ by G. W. Shafer, Jr. Interment was made in the Maple Creek Cemetery south of the Precept Community. Pall bearers, grandsons of the deceased, were Wendell Wentling, laVerne Wentling , Pichard Wentling, Dale Wentling, Frank Wentling and Wiley Wentling. Hopping-Haase Funeal Home of Beaer City was in charge of the arrangements.
