Seventh Generation

1426. John COLBY²⁵⁸ was born on 13 April 1760 in Bow Center, Merrimack, New Hampshire. He served at West Point in 1780, in Captain John Eastman's
company, Colonel Thomas Bartlett's regiment, in the Revolutionary War, and
was a pensioner when he died. He re-enlisted in 1781, under Captain William
Boys. In 1782, he purchased 200 acres of land in Society Land (now
Bennington, NH.), cleared ten acres and built a home there. He took his
young wife in 1787 (not 1783 as sometimes given) to the new home which was
then without windows, floor, or chimney, making a fire on the broad flat
rock, which served for cooking purposes until the chimney was built. In
1790, he built a large two-story house, He was an original member of the
First Church in Greenfield, New Hampshire, 1805.

John COLBY and Sally HALE were married on 27 January 1787 in Goffstown, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Sally HALE²⁵⁸ was born about 1760 in Goffstown, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. She died on 12 May 1795 at the age of 35 in Weare, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.

2728	iii.	Betsey COLBY²⁵⁸ was born on 21 October 1791 in Weare, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. She died on 23 April 1793 at the age of 1 in Weare, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.

John COLBY and Eunice DANE were married on 23 June 1796 in New Hampshire. Eunice DANE²⁵⁸ was born on 7 April 1773 in Andover, Essex, Massachusetts. She died on 24 March 1851 at the age of 77.
