Robert "Bob" Matthew LANE was born on 31 July 1899 in Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts.1459 He died in the Veteran's Hospital on 9 March 1982 at the age of 82 in Tucson, Pima, Arizona.1459 He served in World War I, entering the Argonne Offensive on 26 March 1918. He carried a bazooka; lived in trenches he dug; and had a terrible time with head lice. After the Armistice was signed, he was part of a peace-keeping group in Coblenz, Germany. He was shipped back to the USA and discharged on 31 july 1919, his 20th birthday. He lived in Malden, MA, taking a job as a clerk in the First National Bank there, where he met Laura B. Perkins. Robert "Bob" Matthew LANE and Evelyn Virginia RUSS were married on 2 August 1936 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.1459 In 1936, Bob met Evelyn while on a cruise to Bermuda. Bob was smitten. On weekends he would take the train from Boston to New York, where Evelyn lived and worked as a librarian, just to spend a Saturday and early Sunday with her. He stayed in the YMCA near to where she lived. He proposed and was accepted. Bob had always wanted to be married in a historical location, so they decided to marry in the old King's Chapel in Boston, Massachusetts. When they married, Bob was 37 and Evelyn was 26. They lived in Everett, Massachusetts, where their two oldest children were born. In 1943, they moved to 2 Hill Street, Lexington, Massachusetts , a wonderful old community steeped in early American History. By 1947, Bob was tired of shoveling snow and he and Evelyn decided it was time to move to a warmer climate. They were torn between the hurricanes of Florida and the earthquakes of California, but finally decided on earthquakes, moving to Pasadena, California, in May 1947. Pasadena was already a large community, and they preferred a smaller one, so Bob build a home for them from scratch in a little town just north of Pasadena called Altadena. Here they lived for many years, and here too was born their third and last child. Bob opened his own bookkeeping/tax office in Pasadena and served many clients for several years. Evelyn worked in the library system of Pasadena. They retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1980. Evelyn Virginia RUSS, daughter of Andrew RUSS and Ida May MOORE, was born on 19 July 1910 in Mohawk Valley, New York.1459,3327 She died on 29 March 2004 at the age of 93 in Arizona.3327 Her obituary was published on 2 April 2004 in the Arizona Daily Star in Arizona.3327 Robert "Bob" Matthew LANE-20324 and Evelyn Virginia RUSS-20327 had the following children:
