Was born at the hotel in Boscobel, WI (which happened to be The Philbrick House) When his parents separated and then divorced, Marcellus at 18 , became the man of the family. Frank worked a number of jobs, whatever it took to support his family , a cream route, farming, at a canning factory. He retired in 1926 and on 9 March of that year, Jennie died. Frank stayed on alone in his home until he injure d his hip, and then went to stay with his son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Mildred PHILBRICK. A side light of Marcellus' eleven growing-up years in Kansas and the slow, difficult journey back to Wisconsin, was that in later years, he absolutely refused to see any movie that was of the "cowboy and Indians" type or a film on "pioneers", even though he did like movies. He also showed absolutely no interest in keeping in touch with his father, although his sisters did so.
