Age 6, born Nebraska, parents born Iowa, living with parents. Name on census: Ora O. Philbrick. He appeared in the census on 17 January 1920 in Stuart, Holt, Nebraska. Age 16, born Nebraska, parents born Iowa, living with parents. Name on census: Ora O. Philbrick. Ora died on 23 September 1985 at the age of 82 in Stuart, Holt, Nebraska. He was buried in Stuart cemetery north of town. Ora Orval PHILBRICK and Mabel Waive HUTCHESON were married on 1 June 1925 in Stuart, Holt, Nebraska. by Harry E. Patterson. (Ora's age is listed as 22, a bit prematurely.) Mabel's brother Henry married Ora's sister Beulah a year later. (see below) Ora wanted to be an ordained minister; his parents, though very strictly religious, opposed it. He was variously a farmer, laborer, vaudeville and circus clown, and for several years a practiving alcoholic, from which he later recovered. They lived at various times in Stuart and on farms nearby, especially one his parents had farmed earlier. He and Mabel took care of his parents during the last years of their lives. In their retirement years, Ora had a garden in town, complete with goats, rabbits and chickens. He loved to fish, year-round, and frequently traveled to SD to fish as well as visit his sisters. Once he had a fire under a pail on the ice, sat on it, and fell in when the pail melted through. After Ora's death, Mabel had a stroke and lived with daughter June in Stuart until her own death. Mabel Waive HUTCHESON, daughter of William H. HUTCHESON and Hattie E. DIACON, was born on 25 July 1902 in Iowa. She died on 20 September 1992 at the age of 90 in Stuart, Holt, Nebraska.
