GRACE HARRINGTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Harrington, 88, of Laurel were held Tuesday, May 24 at United Presbyterian Church in Laurel. Rev. Thomas Robson officiated.

Mrs. Marian Mallatt was organist and sang "Whispering Hope" and "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers were Bernard Asbra, leon May, Tom Fredricksen, Harold Sudbeck, Larry Harrington and Tim Harrington.

Burial was at the Laurel Cemetery with arrangements by Wiltse Mortuary of Laurel.

Grace Harrington, daughter of William and Olive Philbrick Searle, was born December 27, 1894 in Iowa. She moved to Laurel as a child and lived the rest of her life in the Laurel community. She Married James Raymond Harrington on January 27, 1912 at Laurel. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Laurel.

Mrs. Harrington died Friday, May 20 at the Osmond General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Doug.

Survivors include three sons, Lawrence of Roseville, Calif., Robert of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rod of Laurel; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kennedy of Newbury Park, Calif., and Mrs. Bette Dovel of Olympia, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. After she was widowed in 1943, her niece Gloria Bruggerman lived with her in Laurel until 1948. Grace was a remarkable woman. She was an amputee and wore out six artificial legs.

Grace O. SEARL and James Raymond HARRINGTON were married on 27 January 1912 in Laurel, Cedar, Nebraska. The ceremony was performed at St. Mary's Church in Laurel, by Thos. J. Fehily of St. Anne's Church in Dixon, NE. Witnesses were Joseph A. and Edna Helena Harrington.

James Raymond HARRINGTON³⁵⁸⁹, son of Eugene HARRINGTON and Julia SMALL, was born on 5 August 1888 in Salix, Woodbury, Iowa.^119,910

He registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 in Cedar County, Nebraska He was age 29, born Aug. 5, 1888 in Salix, Iowa and was a farmer. His name was written James Ramond Harrington.

James appeared in the census on 9 February 1920 in Precinct 15, Cedar, Nebraska. Age 31, born Iowa, father born Ireland, mother unknown. He was a farmer and his household included his wife Grace O., and their 3 children. Name on census: James R. Harrington.

He appeared in the census on 14 April 1930 in Laurel, Cedar, Nebraska.¹⁵⁵³ Age 42, born Iowa, father born Irish Free State, mother Ohio. His occupation was laborer of odd jobs and he had been married at age 24. His household included his wife Grace and their six children. Name on census: James R. Harrington.

He died in 1943 at the age of 55 in Laurel, Cedar, Nebraska. He is buried in Laurel Cemetery.
