Rice, one of Akron's most esteemed citizens, on Sunday. Mr. Rice, who for many years had worked at the carpenter trade here and in the surrounding territory, was actively engaged in his profession up until his final illness. Always an excellent craftsman, Mr. Rice posessed a cheerful personality that endeared him to every acquaintance. As a young boy, he came with his parents to Herndon, Iowa. There, on Nov. 11, 1889, he was united in marriage with Miss Hattie Philbrick. About a year later they moved to Laurel, Nebraska, which place remained their home until 1912, when they came to Akron.
