Age 39, born Iowa, parents born US. She had been married 5 years and had 3 children, all still alive. She was living with her husband Steve S., 58, and their daughter Thelma, 1 year 10 months. Ollie was living about 1940 in Madison, Lake, South Dakota. She was taking care of her grandchildren after daughter Lucille's death. Interment was in the Laurel Cemetery under the direction of Solso Funeral Service. Pall bearers were Verner Wickett, Vern McNabb, Jack Holmes, Gail Sellon, Merle Russell and George O'Gara. Olive Philbrick was born April 9, 1871 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Orvilla Philbrick. January 26, 1892 she married William Searl at Guthrie Center, Iowa. They were the parents of two daughters, Grace and Lola. Mr. Searl died in 1902 and his widow and two daughters then came to Nebraska where they lived for a time at Coleridge with her parents who had come to Nebraska. On April 8, 1905 she married Stephen Wedding of Laurel and to this union was born one daughter, Thelma -- Mrs. Rex Juergens, who died in 1940. Mrs. Wedding continued to live in Laurel after the death of Mr. Wedding in 1916. She spent nearly a half century in this area. For many years she was an employee of the Harper's Store here. She was a member of the Methodist Church and took an active part in the work of the Ladies Aid. She was generous in giving of her labor and devotion for others. Three years ago she moved to the Tri-State-Nursing Home at Coleridge where she continued her hobby of needlework until ill health and advanced age forced her to cease. She died there Sunday, July 3, at the age of 84 years. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Grace Harrington of Laurel and Mrs. Lola Neve of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers, Vere Philbrick, Minneapolis, Minnisota; Fred Philbrick, Denver, Colorado; and Charles Philbrick, Lancaster, California; and twelve grandchildren. It is believed that she was the sister of Mary Ellen McClain, the first wife of Ollie's second husband Stephen Wedding. They were married at the residence of Hiram Miller. William W. SEARL, son of John S. SEARL and Amanda MILLER, was born on 23 April 1852 in Bureau County, Illinois.3106 He appeared in the census on 23 June 1860 in Selby Township, Bureau, Illinois. It is believed that she was the sister of Lydia McClain, the first wife of Ollie's first husband William Searl. Stephen Louis WEDDING3100, son of John Wesley WEDDING and Harriet ADAMS, was born on 22 August 1852 in Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio.3100 He was living in 1905 in Laurel, Cedar, Nebraska. Stephen Louis Wedding was born at Dayton, Ohio, August 22, 1852, and when a child removed with his parents to Bureau County, Ill. In 1874 he was married to Miss Ella McLean of Hall township, Ill., who died in 1904. To this union were born three children, two of whom are living. In 1886 he moved from Illinois to Guthrie County, Iowa, where he resided until 1902, when he came to Cedar county, Nebraska, moving onto the farm four miles north of Laurel, where he resided at the time of his death. In 1905 he was married to Mrs. Ollie Searl of Laurel, and to this union was born one daughter, Thelma Lucile. He leaves three brothers - two of whom were present at the funeral - David H. and Charles W., of Princeton, Ill., and James W., of Webster City, Iowa. For thirty-four years, Mr. Wedding had been a member of the Masonic order, placing his membership in the Laurel lodge shortly after moving to Nebraska. The funeral was held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the service being conducted by Rev. G. M. Bing, the remains being in charge of the Masonic lodge, who conducted the services at the cemetery. It was one of the largest attended funerals held here in some time. Mr. Wedding was a friend to all and well liked by everybody, and his absence will be sadly missed. All unite in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
