421. Thankful WEEKS³⁴⁶ was born about 1718 in . She died about 1785 at the age of 67 in Craven, Rowan, North Carolina.

Thankful WEEKS and Thomas HICKS were married about 1740 in (probably) Massachusetts.³⁴⁷

Thomas HICKS³⁴⁸ was born on 19 February 1719 in Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts. He died about 1777 at the age of 58 in Duplin County, North Carolina.
"Birth date found recorded in the records of Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. Believe Thomas to be a son of Thomas and Abigail Hicks of Swansea Massachusetts. If he is not their son, Thomas, it would still seem probable he came from the Hicks family line that started out from Mass. (Both families trace back to the orginal Hicks settling in Massachusetts.) Some descendants moved to Long Island, New York. Later, descendants from that family moved to what became Granville Co., NC. I find a Thomas Hicks in Edgecomb Co., NC (Granville was created from part of Granville) in 1747. He sells land there in 1752, but when the will of his father is probated in 1788, Thomas is listed as unmarried. Our Thomas was deceased by that time. Our Thomas shows up in Duplin County in 1754. However, since Thankful's parents settled in the
Carteret/Onslow Co. portion of NC, as did the family of Thomas and Abigail Hicks, I think it more probable that our Thomas was also in that region.

There is a land purchase by a David Hicks, most likely their son, for 400 acres in Carteret Co. on the North side of Bogue Sound on 1 April 1752 and for Thomas Hicks in September of 1749 [Colonial Land Entries in North Carolina 1735-1752 by A. B. Pruitt, Vol. 2, entries 1091.] Thomas Hicks also had land on Boque Sound. When he sells the land there, shortly a Thomas Hicks shows up in Duplin Co., NC. Several things point to his being the same individual as the Thomas Hicks of Carteret, Bogue Sound -- he is a Cooper, and he signs his own name being two points to notice."
