My mother was born 6/8/15 to, she believes a John and Marie Ottosen who were married in Hedemarken, Norway in February, 1915 and came to America. She subsequently was adopted in Dec, 1915 by Charles Howard and Ida Hutto who lived in Portland, Oregon. She believes her natural father returned to Norway (ill) and passed on. Her natural mother she thinks was in Tacoma, WA. My mother is 83 yrs old and is still trying to find any natural relatives she may have. There are also health issues involved. We are trying to find adoption records to have opened and I have spent quite a bit on professional geneology research. Any information or suggestions will be appreciated. |

I know that the family lived in Minnesota, his father died and he had a stepfather. I also know that he and his older brother Henry ran away from home when my grandfather was about ten. He married my grandmother, Kema Vold, somewhere around 1903-1905, I believe. Her family lived along the Red River valley near Grand Forks. She had a brother Pederson who came to the USA and lived in Dedham, Mass. He had 4 children: Arther, Clifford, Olive, and the other son was never spoken of as he fell out of a tree 12' up and broke his neck and was killed on the spot. It was a great shock to My Great Uncle Peder. My Father came to this country by way of the old Square Riggers as he sailed them from the time he was 11 yrs old. All of the children came to USA wherre united after being apart and losing each other for many years. All live close together in Boston Mass. area, even the Uncle Peder Pederson Thanks. Andreas and his wife Stina Andersson and their children moved from Sweden to Norway. One of their daughters, Anna Sofia (1872-1936) was my father's mother. There were, however, several other children Johan Fredrik Schützer, Beda Schützer and Emma Schützer. Anna Sofia came to Chicago in the late 1880s, but it's not clear if other members of the family also came to America. My guess is that would all have departed from the port of Oslo. We were in Värmland this past summer for a Schützer family reunion, but all anyone knows for certain is the family moved from Sweden to Norway. Jens was born 25 Dec 1822, Anna Mathea was born 06 July 1832. Their children were Johan (John) 9 July 1868 and Maren Christine 26 Jan 1857. They emigrated to Jackson County, WI after the children were born. Also interested in any information re: Johnson brothers who emigrated from Vardal, Gjovick in 1871. They were all shoemakers. I also know that they settled in North Dakota, on early postcard one could see the name of place to be MONTEVIDEO, wich is a name we cannot find on any maps. Has this name changed during the years, is this place now called something else? It is assumed that they emmigrated sometime during the period between 1906 and 1914. |
