Samuel A. Diller, 86, last G. A. R. member of Canal Fulton, diedWednesday night at his h ome there where he had resided for the last 10years. He had been seriously ill since last Au gust. Mr. Diller hadlived in Akron for 40 years prior to making his home in Canal Fulton.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the residenceand burial will be in Ea st Akron cemetery. Members of Buckley post ofAkron of which he was a member will take part i n military rites at thegrave.

Mr. Diller leaves his widow, Martha; five sons, Merton ofMassillon, and Harry, Elmer, Al vin and Orrin of Akron; a daughter,Mrs. Ada Streby of Canal Fulton; and 22 grandchildren an d 17great-grandchildren.
Born the son of a cabinet maker in Churchtown, Cumberland county,Pa., Oct. 27, 1844, Sam uel Diller went into his father's shop as anapprentice at an early age. At the outbreak of t he Civil War, heenlisted in the 20th Pennsylvania cavalry and was assigned to clearing"gueril las" out of the mountains.
When his cavalry enlistment expired, he joined a supply train,later joining the 195th Pe nnsylvania infantry which was sent toWashington to defend the capital when the Confederates t hreatened.
Comes In 1865
Later, the 105th, while fighting in the Shenandoah valley, wasforced into retreat, and l ater was assigned as a part of the 8th armycorps under General Hayes. Following his discharg e at the close ofthe war, Mr. Diller decided to "go west" to Ohio and, he arrived inAkron, 18 65.
After marrying his first wife, Sarah Lieb, he settled inSmithville and followed the cont racting business.He served two yearsas justice of the peace in Stark county while McKinley wa s president.

After an illness extending over a period of about one year, Mrs.Sarah Diller, 64 of 17 2 Harter Avenue, died of complications, earlythis morning. She was taken ill with dropsy, an d later became asubject of attacks of heart disease. She is survived by her husband,F. A. Di ller, and several children. The funeral services will be heldat the residence Sunday afterno on at 2 o'clock, and the internmentwill be made at East Akron cemetery.
