Mrs. H. D. Eveleigh, Adams Center, Dies
Mrs. Charlotte L. Eveleigh, 68, wife of Howard D. Eveleigh of Adams Center, died at her home at 2:30 last Saturday morning after being suddenly sticken with a heart attack.
Mrs. Eveleigh had been in failing health for a long period, but she had been able to be up and around. She returned home from a trip to Schenectady Thursday night and was about her home as usual Friday.
Early Saturday morning she was stricken suddenly ill and Dr. E. E. Babcock of Adams of Adams Center was called to attend her at 2 a.m.
Mrs. Eveleigh was born in Adams, Oct. 2, 1869, a daughter of Luftus J. and Hannah Roach Landon. She had always resided in the town of Adams. Her education was received in the Adams public schools and the Adams Collegiate Institute.
She was married to Howard D. Eveleigh of the town of Hounsfield, on Oct. 14, 1891, at Adams.
She was a member of the Adams Episcopal church, the Glen Ida Chapter, O.E.S., Adams Center, and of the D.A.R. at Adams.
Surviving her, besides her husband, are two sons, Ray L. and Stanton E. Eveleigh, Watertown; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Curtis J. (Bess L.) Jones, Watertown, and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the family home. Rev. Cecil Taylor, rector of the Episcopal church of Adams officiated. Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery at Adams.

Luftus J. Landon
On Monday morning, April 24, occurred the death of L.J. Landon at his home on Clay street, aged 70 years. He had been in failing health for several months, yet his sudden death was unlooked for and came as a suprise to his many friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Landon was born in Ellisburg, and was the son of Luftus S. and Charlotte Smith Landon. He learned the wool-carding and cloth-dressing trades, at which he worked for several years. He was also engaged in the hotel business, after which he learned the blacksmith's trade and came to Adams in 1867, where he conducted a successful business till a few months previous to his death.
In 1867 he married Hannah Roach, daughter of William and Eliza Roach of Pierrrepont Manor, who survives with three children, Mrs. Howard Eveleigh of Adams Center, William S. of Syracuse and Mrs. Curtis Jones of this village.
Mr. Landon had been an active fireman for 47 years. He was one of the charter members of the Star Hose company, No. 2, and its first foreman, a position which he held for many years. Ill health compelling him to resign he was made an honorary member last January.
The funeral was held today at 2:30 at his late residence. Rev. T.T. Davies of Sandy Creek officiating. The fire departments attended in a body. Burial in Elmwood.

L.S. Landon, father of L.J. Landon died at the home of the latter on Clay Street last Tuesday afternoon. The funeral took place at the house on Thursday, attended by the Masons, of which organization deceased was a member.

Charles Wheaton Lawton, 72 prominent farmer of the town of Rodman, died Sunday night at 6:45 at the Lawton homestead, two miles from the village of Rodman, after a long illness. Death was caused from complication of disease.
Mr. Lawton died in the house in which he was born. This house was the birthplace of the late Frank W. Woolworth of the 5 and 10 cent fame. The homestead was purchased from the grandfather of Frank W. Woolworth by Chauncey B. Lawton, father of Charles Wheaton Lawton.
Mr. Lawton was born on October 8, 1860, the elder son of Chauncey B. and Jane Earl Lawton. He Attened the rural schools Rodman and Hungerford Collegiate Institude of Adams.
He married Miss Cora M. Sawyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ormond Sawyer on January 19, 1887, in the town of Watertown.
Surviving Mr. Lawton are his wife; one sister, Mrs. C.C. Williams, of Adams Center; two nieces, Mrs. Ray L. Eveleigh and Mrs. John C. Dodge, both of Watertown.
Funeral services were held from the Lawton homestead today at 2 p.m., Rev. Albert G. Todd, pastor of the Rodman Congregational church, officiating. Interment was made in the family plot at Fairview cemetery at Rodman.

Julia Bleier Dies at 83
Mrs. Julia B. Bleier, 83, who operated a florist business for 33 on her farm home at 20 Marsh Road, East Rochester, died yesterday (June 25, 1965) in Highland Hospital five days after she suffered a heart attack at her home.
Mrs. Bleier was born in Irondequoit. She move to East Rochester after her marriage to I. Lewis Bleier in 1902. She opened Bleier's Garden Store in 1932 after his death and continued active in its management until she collapsed Monday.
She was a member of the Catholic Benevolent Association, the Order of St. Francis, the Home Bureau and St. Louis Catholic Church of Pittsford.
She leaves three sons, Lewis, Thomas and James; six daughters, Mrs. Raymond Lang, Mrs. Frank Bogaly, Mrs. W. Parker Turner, Mrs. Leo Crandall, Mrs. Louis Lempert and Mrs. Stanley Telkey; three brothers, John, Ferdinand and William; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Barnett, Mrs. William Brennen, Mrs. Edward Bleier and Mrs. George Heil, 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Katherine B. Heil, Widow of the late George Heil, died at her home,783 Fairport Rd., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 1979 at the age of 88.
Mrs. Heil was the daughter of the late Louis and Katherine List, Irondequoit.
According to her daughter, Mrs. Sidney(Evelyn) Webster, with whom she resided, Mrs. Heil had moved to the family homestead following her marriage to Mr. Heil around 70 years ago.
The late George Heil was a retired longtime employee of the paint department of the East Rochester railroed car shops.
Besides her daughter, Mrs Heil is survived by a son Raymond Heil, formerly of East Rochester, and now a resident of Venice, Fla.; another daughter, Mrs. Katherine Ellsworth, Macedon; one sister, Mrs. Eva Barnett, Rochester; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Interment following services from the Harloff Funeral Home was in White Haven Memorial Park.

W.A. List Ex-Greece Farmer, Dies
William A. List, 71, who operated a truck farm at 102 Mill Road in Greece for more than 20 years, died Sunday (April 28, 1968) in Lehigh Acres Hospital near Ft. Myers, Fla., after a long illness.
A native of Irondequoit Mr. List moved to his Greece farm more than 35 years ago. He retired 15 years ago because of ill health. The farm is run by his son David.
Mr. List was also engaged for many years installing hardwood floors for area home builders.
He was the father of Greece Police Officer William List.
For several years, Mr. List and his wife had been making their winter home in Florida and living in Greece during the summers.
A Veteran of World War I, Mr. List was a Member of the Greece American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Lawrence Church in Greece.
Besides his wife and sons David and William, Mr. List is survived by two other sons, Paul of Bergen, and Vincent of Greece; six daughters, Mrs. William (Doris) Downs, Mrs. Arthur (Gloria) Laird, Mrs. Clifford (Jean) Henson and Mrs. August (Mary) Giannavola, all of Greece, Mrs Leo (Carol Wielgos of Griffith, Ind., and Mrs. Jack (Audrey) Smith of Rochester; two brothers, John and Ferdinand of Irondequoit; four sisters, Mrs. George Heil, Mrs. Fred Bleier, Mrs. Charles Barnett and Mrs. William Brennan, all of Irondequoit, and 27 grandchildren.

Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Masses may be offered.
