The earliest record I can find for Henry Dixon is a christening record for his daughter Alice Maude; and according to Anglican Church Records, in Fredericton, NB (St Ann's Chapel), Henry Dixon was a Band Master, with the 15th Foot Regiment (East Yorkshire Regiment).1 The Regiment was apparently in Fredericton from 1863 to 1868, under Col. Cole. Then was in Saint John under Col. Guierson.2
We find that he kept up this occupation in civilian life; as he was again listed as a Bandmaster, on his burial permit in Saint John, NB3. (City Cornet Band 4) Unfortunately, we have little or no information on his life prior to his coming to Fredericton, or in the years following his discharge, which apparently left him in Saint John. According to his daughter Alice, they spent some time in Bermuda, for it was supposedly there that her mother died.5 This however, has not been confirmed.
Where Henry remarried has not yet be found, and in true step-mother/daughter fashion, Alice did not get along with his new wife, although apparently the rest of the family did.
