VALLIS - George A. (Mr & Mrs)
= Mr. & Mrs. George A. Vallis, Brown's Flats celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on Monday.  Those serving at the celebration were: Mrs. Roy P. Brien, Clifton; Mrs. Ford H. Hazen, Saint John and Mrs. Charles A. Wallace, New Jerusalem, daughters of the honoured couple, and Mrs. Caswell Vallis and Misses Bernice and Pearl Hazen, Miss Phyllis Brien and Miss Rose Wallace. They were married in New Jerusalem, Queens Co, by Rev. George W. Foster.  She was the former Minnie I. Machum of New Jerusalem, where they had resided until about 18 yrs ago when they moved to Brown's Flats. Their daughters and 15 of their 17 grandchildren were present. (#1,TJ,?)

VALLIS - George A.
= George A. Vallis d. at his home, Brown's Flats aged 85 yrs.  Services at the Brown's Flats Baptist Church, with Rev. O.C. Kaine officiating.  Mrs. Vallis was the youngest and last surviving child of Samuel K. & Elizabeth Ann Vallis, New Jerusalem, where he was born.  Surviving are his wife, Minnie I. (Machum); 3 daus: Mrs. Roy P. Brien, Clifton; Mrs. Ford H. Hazen, Saint John, Mrs. Charles A. Wallace, New Jerusalem, 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. (#1,TJ,?)

VAN WART - J. Arthur
= J. Arthur VanWart d. at Hampstead of a heart attach, aged 81 yrs.  Born in Hampstead, s/o the late Wilford & Jane (Fox) VanWart.  Spent 7 years in Saint John where he was a Deacon of the Victoria St Baptist Church and Sunday School Supt. He returned home and operated a general store and the Valley Hotel. He was a Deacon of the Hampstead Baptist Church for 45 yrs, as well as Sunday School Supt. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Perry) d/o Rev. Samuel J. Perry, Moncton; 4 daus: Mrs. J. Hazen Ross, Sydney, NS; Mrs. J. Bernard Twaddle, Newcastle; Mrs. Evelyn Tillie, Chatham; Mrs. Murray C. Moore, Acamac; 2 sons: Raymond & Claude VanWart, both of Hampstead; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral Fri at 2:30 pm, from his home to Central Hampstead Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. George Hamilton, Kentville, NS, formerly of Central Baptist Church, Saint John.  Interment in adjoining cemetery. (#1,TJ,?)

VINCENT - Arthur Judson (Rev. Dr.)
= Rev. Dr. Arthur Judson Vincent, 95, died at the home of his son, Rev. Gordon S. Vincent, Main St, Woodstock, NB.  Born in Saint John, 21 Jun 1859, s/o the late Mr. & Mrs. David Vincent, grandson of Rev. Samuel Robinson, a noted Saint John preacher. Dr. Vincent went to New York where his parents had moved and worked awhile on the Long Island Railway as an inspector.  He attended the Mount Herman Bible School, Northfield, MA; Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL.  In 1894 he m. Sarah Sweet of Billtown, NS, who survives him.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Aug 1954. Body resting at DeWitt's Funeral Home, Woodstock, and will be transferred to Woodstock United Baptist Church, of which his son, Gordon, is pastor, on Sat. The funeral service will be at 2:30 conducted by Rev. M. O. Brinton, principle of the Baptist Bible Training School, Moncton, NB. The body will be taken to Saint John and placed in the Fernhill vault until spring, at which time burial will take place in the family plot.  Surviving are his wife and 3 sons: Rev. Gordon S., Woodstock; Rev. Dr. A, C., pastor of the Main St Baptist Church, St John; Winslow C. of Halifax; 3 daus: Mrs. Harry (Ina) Milner, Billtown, NS; Mrs. Horace (Evelyn) Morgan, Lewisville; Mrs. George (Mildred) Berry, Reading, MA; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
