= Cora Annie, eldest d/o Mr. & Mrs. Fletcher Bannister, Petitcodiac and Medley Allison s/o Mr. & Mrs. Arthur McKinnon, Woodman's Pt, were m. at the home of the bridge's parents. Attended by Lillian Banister the bridge's sister, as bridesmaid & Clarence her brother, was best man.  Among the present were Mrs. Herbert Prosser, Petitcodiac, Mrs. E. MacKinnon of Hatfield's Pt, grandmothers of the bridge and groom respectively. Mr. & Mrs. Arthur McKinnon, Woodman's Pt, grooms parents. Mrs. Douglas Little, Saint John and immediate relatives of the bridge. They will reside in New Jerusalem. (#1,TJ,?)

BANKS - Abraham J.
= Abraham J. Banks d. Sat at the home of his son Harry M. Banks, 94 Wall St, Saint John after a lengthy illness. (11 Feb 1946) b. at Burton, Sunbury Co, a had been a well known farmer in that district for many years. He came to Saint John three years ago. His wife, Julia d. in June of last year. Surviving are four sons, Edward J. & Harry M., both of Saint John, George A, New York and Hazen H. in IN; three daughters: Mrs. Norman Gordon, ON, Mrs. L. B. Perry and Mrs. V. V.
Peebles, both of Saint John and several grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
    Body at Brenan's where funeral will be held this evening at 8 pm.  The body will go by morning train on Tues to Blissville, Sunbury Co, where interment will be made upon arrival of the train. (#1,TJ)

= Clarence E. Banks, d. Sun. following a lengthy illness, ae 79, b. at F'ton, s/o late Edward & Jane (Smith) Banks.  He had worked as a mechanic most of his life & was very active in local sports in his earlier years.  He was an adherent of St Lukes Anglican Church.  He was pre-deceased by a son, Malcolm and a dau, Rose.  Besides his wife he is survived by 3 sons: George of Saint John, Melvin & Gerald of Toronto, ON; two daughters: Mrs. Elizabeth Nahornay, of Connecticut & Mrs. Madelaine Edwards, of F'ton; four bros: Rufus, Port Alburne, BC; Roy, Manchester, Conn; Thomas & Clement of Oromocto; two sisters: Mrs. Jean Reid, F'ton & Boisetown & Mrs. Evelyn Akrigg, of Vermont; 14 grandchildren; seven g.g. ch; several neices & nephews. Fred Williamson Co for 25 years & in later years worked on the Saint John waterfront.  He was a Baptist & a member of the Gagetown Royal Canadian Legion.  Survived by two sons: Eugene C. & Neil M., both of Saint John; two brothers: Charles (of F'ton) & Ellis (of Langley, BC); two sisters: Mrs. Lilian Weston (of Upper Gagetown) & Mrs George McCordick (of F'ton); seven grandchildren & nieces & Nephews. BANKS - James
= Fire - On Sunday the 4th instant, between eleven and twelve o'clock in the forenoon, whilst the principal part of the Family were at public worship, the house of Mr. James Banks, in Maugerville, took fire in the upper story, and before it was discovered, such was the rapidity of the devouring element, that in less than ten minutes the roof fell in; and in about three quarters of an hour after, the whole building was burnt to the ground.  The greater part of Mr. B's furniture and provisions were destroyed.  His family consists of a wife, eleven children and an aged mother, all of whom are by this fatal event, deprived of a home in this inclement season of the year. BARKHOUSE - Clifford Romaine
= Clifford Romaine Barkhouse, pastor of Tracy Mills and Knoxford Baptist Churches, was ordained to the ministry at Tracy Mills.  Rev. Theodore Smith, District Chairman, presided, organist was Mrs. Donald Simonds. Lic. Burton Hoyt, East Florenceville, gave the invocation.  Scripture read by Rev. Ross Peterson, Victoria, followed prayer by Rev. Donald Jackson, Andover.  Rev. Gordon Vincent, Woodstock, preached the sermon. R.B. Tracey, Church Clerk, read the report of the examining council.  The ordination prayer was offered by Rev. W. G. Petchey and 11 ministers participated in the "laying on of hands".  The charge to the candidate was given by Rev. J. Maitland Jones, Centerville; Rev. Stuart Murray, Heartland gave the charge to the church, and Rev. G. W. Fletcher, Bath, the welcome to the ministry. A reception was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Trueman Tracey. Mr. Barkhouse was for a time organizer for the International Order of Good Templars in Nova Scotia, before entering the ministry.  He was licensed to preach 27 years ago in Lunenburg Co, NS, his native province. For the past 10 years he has been working among the churches along the Saint John River in NB. (#1,TJ,?)

= Mrs. Leonard Barnett, New Jerusalem, entertained in honour of her nephew, L-Cpl Malcolm Barnett, recently returned from France, who saw action with the North Shore Regt which entered France on D-Day. He spent his leave with his parents Mr & Mrs Fred Barnett and his brother Frank, now receiving his basic training in Fredericton. - late 1945 or 1946 (#1,TJ,?)

BARRY - J. M. (Dr.)
= Dr. J. M. Barry, aged 90 yrs. Retired in Dec 1958. He first opened for practice in 1902.  Dr. Barry descends from pre-Loyalist Irish stock, who came overland from the Miramichi to settle at Melrose, between Sackville and Cape Tormentine. He took up practice in Saint John and has been Pres. of the NB Medical Society in 1935-36, and since then registrar of the Council of Physicians and Surgeons of NB. Son of James and Elizabeth (Mahoney) barry, he lived on Princess St in Saint John and has two daughters, and will be 91 in 21 Jan 1960. (#1,TJ,?)

= Dr. J. M. Barry, Saint John was appointed registrar of the Council of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.  He succeeds the late Dr. S.H. MacDonald.  Those present at the meeting were Dr. R.A. = Dr. John Malcolm Barry, Dean of the medical profession in NB, died Friday morning at his residence, 182 Princess St, Saint John, after an illness of 2 mos.  Born in Melrose, NB, s/o of the late James & Elizabeth (Mahoney) Barry.  He retired at aged 90 at the end of 1958.  His wife was the former Bertha Clarke of Saint John died in Sept. 1962.  Surviving are two daus: Miss Elizabeth Margaret Barry & Miss Joan Clark Barry, both of Saint John. Funeral Monday 8:40 AM to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St Joseph's Cemetery. (#1,TJ,?)

BECKETT, Waldo E. (Flt-Lt.)
= Fl-Lt. Waldo E. Beckett, who returned from overseas about a month ago, was honor guest at a social function held at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Edwin J. Beckett, Jerusalem.  A number of friends were present from whom a purse of money was presented by Edward Webb, Sr.  A sing-song was enjoyed and refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Eldon Beckett, Mrs. Maurice Webb, Mrs. Hepburn Adamson, Mrs. Samuel Doherty, Mrs. James Ogilvie, Miss Rilla Machum, Edward Webb aNd William Truan.  Flight Lieutenant Beckett is the eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. Eldon Beckett of Jerusalem.  He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in Sept. 1941, and has seen active service over Germany

BELYEA - Miss Edna L.
= MISS EDNA BELYEA DIES AT YORK MANOR
Miss Edna L. Belyea died yesterday at York Manor. Born in Fredericton, she was the daughter of Lewis and Charlotte (Johnson) Belyea.  She was employed as secretary with the department of the Provincial Secretary until her retirement.
    She was affiliated with the Anglican Church and a former member of Christ Church Cathedral Choir and the
Women's Auxiliary.
    She is survived by nieces, nephews; grandnieces; grandnephews; great-grandnieces; and great-grandnephews.The body is resting at J.A. McAdam Funeral Home where service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dean H.R. Cooper officiating. Interment will be in the rural cemetery at a later date.

BELYEA - Edward S.
= Edward S. Belyea of Public Landing, Kings County, husband of the late Minnie W. (Parker) Belyea, died at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday. Born in Olandville, Queens County, he was a son of the late Alfred D. and Mary Jane (Nelson) Belyea and had been a resident of Public Landing for the last 50 years.
    He had been employed as a carpenter for the Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company Limited and later by the New Brunswick Department of Highways until his retirement.
    He was a member and former chapel-warden of St. Peter's Church, Public Landing and was made an honourary warden of the same church last year.
    He is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. Ella Haycox of Public Landing; one sister, (Amelia) Mrs. David A. Elder of Saint John; one brother, Daniel of Brown's Flat; one step-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
    The body is resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row.  The funeral will be held from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Public Landing on Wednesday with service at 2 p.m.
    Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, Woodman's Point.  Visiting at the funeral home is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.  Donations to St. Peter's Church or the Wesley United Church, Brown's Flat would be appreciated by the family.

= BELYEA - At Saint John General Hospital April 14, 1973, Mrs. Elizabeth Helen Belyea, 153 King Street East, widow of Walter Wallace (Curran) Belyea, and daughter of the late Margaret Emila (MacFarlane) and John Beresford (Scott) Coyle.  Leaving to mourn, two daughters, one brother, one grandson, one great-grandson, one sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at the Calvin Funeral Home, (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be geld Wedsneday at 2 pm. Interment will be in the family plot on the Berberis Path at Fernhill Cemetery.

Belyea and daughter of the late Isaac and Isabelle McLeod; survived by one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

BELYEA -  Ernest Blake
= {Jul/Aug 1973} E. B. BELYEA - SUSSEX - The death of Ernest Blake Belyea of Wickham, occured at Kings County
Memorial Hospital here, at the age of 61 years, after a brief illness.
    He was born in Wickham, son of the late Gilbert and Zillah (MacAlpine) Belyea, and is survived by four brothers, George and Ervine, both of Wickham, and Ronald and Laurence, bot of Midland; four sisters, Ida, Wickham; Mrs. Muriel Davis, Sussex; Mrs. Vernon DeWitt, Woodstock, and Mrs. Miles Mersereau, Houlton, Me, and several nieces and nephews.
    The body rested at the home, where service was conducted by Rev. A. S. Carpenter, assisted by Lic. Gary Barnes. Interment was made in Wickham Cemetery.  Pallbearers were nephews Gilbert Belyea, Burton Belyea, Malcolm Mersereau and Ronald Laskey and Ronald Bustard and Frank Smith.

BELYEA - Foster E.
= F.E. BELYEA DIES AT BROWN'S FLAT - Veteran of First Great War - Succumbs After Long Illness  BROWN'S FLAT, Kings County, Sept 6 - (Special) The death of Foster E. Belyea occurred here today following a long illness.  He was a veteran of the First Great War.
    Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. George Dunham and Mrs. Alexander Elder, Saint John; Mrs. Fred Belyea, Brown's Flat; three brothers, George and Daniel Belyea, Brown's Flat, and Edward Belyea, Public Landing.
    The funeral will be held from his residence Sunday at 2 pm, to the baptist Church at Brown's Flat.  Interment will be at Armstrong's Corner.

= DR. HARRY BELYEA HONORED ON HIS 100th BIRTHDAY
    Dr. Harry Belyea was honored on his 100th birthday by a testimonial given by the Medical and Dental
Societies of Edmonton.
    Telegrams were read from Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Premier Richard Hatfield, a
missionary in India and relatives and friends from  the east coast to southern California.
    He was presented with an engraves "Paul Revere" bowl from Harvard University as the oldest living graduate.
He received his DMD from Harvard in 1897.  Scrolls were presented from several societies to which Dr. Belyea
belongs.  Scrolls were received from the Prime Minister and the Lieut Governor of Alberts, J.W. Grant MacEwan.
    Dr. Belyea was born in Central Cambridge, Queens County, on Jan 11, 1873, to John and Rachel (Cox)
Belyea,  He was married to the late Sarah Josephine (Hendry) Belyea of MacDonald's Point, Queens Co.
    He was the first slecialist in othodontics in Edmonton.  He was chosen to found the faculty of dentisty at the
University of Alberts, and was later renamed Dean of Dentistry until retirement in 1942.
    In 1960 he received an LLD from the University and in 1969 an FRCD from McGill University.  He is honorary Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Edmonton, honorary member of faculty council and Professor Emeritus of U.of A.  He is a member of the Edmonton Art Club and a former member of the Alpine Club.  Mr. Belyea has won many awards for painting and jewellery-making since his retirement; he no longer pursues these hobbies.
    Special guests at the dinner were two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Ward and Mrs. J. W. Porteous; his grandson Richard Porteous, and Dr Sandy Gilchrist, all of Edmonton; and Dr. Belyea's sister, Mrs. F.W. Wetmore and daughter
Mrs. J. Scigliano of Stratham, NH.
    A phone call was received from his sister, Mrs. B. A. MacDonald of Forest Hills, Saint John, who is 97.

BELYEA - Mrs. Hattie Pearl

Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital July 23, 1977.  Survived by four sons, one daughter, one sister, one brother, 13
grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road until Tuesday where service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Rev. Donald Robertson will officiate with Rev. Arthur Vincent officiating at the committal.  Interment in the Cedar
Hill Cemetery, Saint John.

BELYEA - Mrs. Hattie Pearl
= MRS. HATTIE BELYEA FUNERAL TUESDAY
    Funeral service will be held Tuesday for Mrs. Hattie Pearl Belyea, widow of Edmund H. Belyea, who died Saturday at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a two-month stay. Born 85 years ago in Saint John, she was a housewife and member of the Main Street Baptist Church.  She was a 50-year member of the Pythian Sisters.
    She is survived by four sons, Arthur, New York; Trueman, Ottawa; Lawrence, Kitchener, Ont.; Louis, Truro, NS; a daughter, Mrs. L.K. Richardson (Sybil), Fredericton; a sister, Mrs. J.A. McNeil, Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Leonard Watson, Saint John; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    Rev. Donald Robertson will officiate at funeral service Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bishop's Funeral Home.  Rev. Arthur Vincent will conduct the committal service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

= BELYEA - At the Saint John General Hospital, Aug 24, 1966, Mrs. Jessie L. Belyea, widow of Frederick B. Belyea, survived by two sons, a daughter, a brother, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held Saturday with service at 2 pm. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery.

BELYEA - Mrs. Mary Helen
= Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Helen Belyea of 590 Queens St. is to be held at St. Dunstan's Church Tuesday
at 10 a.m. Mrs. Belyea died Saturday in the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
 Born at Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Trueman and Mary (Farell) Wheaton.  She had lived in Fredericton for the past 40 years, where she was supervisor of the school book department, retiring in 1965.  Previously she had been employed with the superintendent's office of the CNR in Moncton.
 She was a member of St. Dunstan's Church, the CWL and the Business and Professional Women's Association.
 Mrs. Belyea is survived by two brothers, Arthur Wheaton, Fredericton, and Harold E. Wheaton, Salisbury, and a number of nieces and nephews.
 The body is resting at the J.A. McAdam Funeral Home, 160 York St.  Interment will be in the Shediac Road Cemetery, Moncton, at a later date.

=  Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Helen Belyea was held with mass in St. Dunstan's Church celebrated by Rev.
Donald Harriman, assisted by Rev. J.J. Dolan.
 Honourary pallbearers were Dr. F.E. MacDiarmid, Donald Middlemiss, Dr. Fred Atkinson and Allie Tapley. Pallbearers were Ronald Cornell, Edward MacLean, LeRoy Hanson, Lester Bartlett, Armand St. Onge and
Harvey Malmberg.
    Entombment was made with interment to be in the Shediac Road Cemetery, Moncton, at a later date.
    Mrs. Belyea is survived by two brothers, Harold Wheaton, Salisbury, and Arthur Wheaton, Fredericton;
several nieces and nephews.

BRANSCOMBE - Arnold
= Arnold Branscombe, 23, d. instantly in a road mishap. Of Corn Hill, was killed when a farm tractor he was riding was in collision with a car on the Petitcodiac-Havelock Highway, about 7 miles from Petitcodiac.  He was crushed to death as the tractor which his bro. Ivan was driving overturned and fell on him shortly before 1 pm. The car driver was Carl Neilson, 19 of Salisbury who was accompanied by his father. They and Ivan Branscombe were unhurt. Corner Dr. J. Edgar Girard, of Moncton called an inquest. Survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hilliard Branscombe with whom he lived (He was single) 8 sisters: Mrs. Wm. = Mrs. M. J. Broderick died at her home.  Mary Jane, widow of Dr. Edward J. Broderick d. at 97 Union St, after a lingering illness.  d/o the late Mr. & Mrs. David O'Connell.  She was m. in
Jun 1901, to Dr. Broderick who d. in Dec 1942.  Graduate of  Sacred Heart Covent, Waterloo St, Saint John.  Survived by 2 sons, Dr. Edward O'Connell Broderick, Needham, MA; W. Harold & Ralph J., both of Saint John & 3 daus: ... , Mary & Eileen at home. Two sisters: Mrs. J. B. Whelan, Needham, MA; Miss Lauretta O'Connell, Saint John; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Whelan, Dr. Joseph Whelan, a former major in the US army, and Dr. Broderick, a former Capt. in the US Army came to Saint John to attend the funeral.  Funeral from the Cathedral at 9:45 am, to St Joseph's Cemetery. BROWN - D'Arcy
    Gagetown, June 27 - (Special) - D'Arcy Brown, 68, died unexpectedly at his farm at Lawfield, near here, yesterday after
a heat attach.  Born at Hibernia, he was the eldest son of Isaac and Catherine Brown and had spent most of his life at Lawfield.
    During the Second Great War, he was employed at shipbuilding at St Andrews.
    He is survived by his wife, eight daughters, Mrs. Ernest Rathburn, Caton's Island; Mrs. James Hamilton, Saint John; Mrs. Theodore Brown, Hibernia; Mrs. Fred Drummond, Gagetwon; Mrs. Donald Armstrong; Mrs. Eric Mott, Mrs. George Crozier, Mrs. Donald Armstrong and Mrs. Joseph K. Carruthers, all of Saint John; four sons, Willard, St John; D'Arcy, Brown's Flats; Harold, Saint John, Lewis, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Briggs, Gagetown and Mrs. Lily Cogswell, South Devon; a brother, Fred B. Brown, Gagetown and 28 grandchildren.  Two other grandsons, Joseph Hamilton and James B.  Aruthers lost their lives in the Second Great War.
    The funeral was held yesterday with prayers at the home at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. A.B. Copeland of the Penteccoastal Church, Lawfield, followed by service at St John's Church conducted by Rev. H.J. Hoyt.  Interment will be made in the family lot in the churchyard cemetery.  (#1,TJ,?)

= Kathaleen Neta Brown wed Philbrick James Crain at the United Baptist Church, Geary.  Service by Rev. W. Hartley Britton. She is the d/o Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Brown, Haneytown and he the s/o of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Crain, Upper Kent, NB.  Allan Boone was organist and Miss Anne MacKnight soloist.  Attendants were: Mrs. Gerald Brown, the bride's sister-in-law was matron of honour; Mrs. Douglas Morehouse, her sister was Bride's maid and her niece, Donna Morehouse was flower girl.  Philip Brown, brother of the bride was groomsman.  Gerald Brown and Roger Reader were ushers.  They will reside in St Lamberts, Quebec, where they are both on the staff of city schools.  = Joseph Brueton (1942) of Welsford, d. at the General Hospital, Saint John, NB, where he has been a patient since April 1.  Born in England, son of the late Charles W. & Florence Giles Brueton.  Lived in Welsford past 30 years.  Member of St Luke's Church (Anglican) of Welsford.  Besides his adopted mother, Mrs. Havelock Woods, he is survived by his wife, Pearl (McCutcheon) of Armstrong's Corner, Queens Co; 1 son, Fred at home; 4 sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hamilton, Saint John; Mrs. Ernest Watson, Mrs. David Bailey, and Mrs. Charles Clark, all of England.
