========================================================================== The following names are indexed from : Thomas Turner, The Diary of a Georgian Shopkeeper The original diary is now held in Yale University library (111 volumes) but a small selection by Blencowe and Lower was published in 1925. The same selection was republished by OUP, edited by G H Jennings, in 1979. This is only a small selection from the diary, but it still gives us a useful number of names for genealogical reference. Thomas Turner was a shopkeeper and general dealer in East Hoathly, Sussex, and these extracts span the period 1754-1765. I have omitted dignitaries such as MPs, nobility, etc, who are probably adequately documented elsewhere. Indexed by Mike Foster, Wellington, 1993 I have my own copy of the book, as an OUP Paperback. ========================================================================== ATKINS Mrs Party/supper @ Whyly 22/2/58 22 BALDOCK Thomas Sponsor for Peter Turner, bp 1768. 83 BANISTER George Game of cricket for bowl of punch 28/6/63 58 BEARD George Shopkeeper,Chailey,Richd Turner an apprentice 81 BECKETT Samuel Postchaise collided with Frenchs' waggon 66 BELL Molly Bragg & supper with Turners 2/2/59 37 BLACKMAN Simonds m Mary Margenson 14/11/64 70 BREDIN John Sponsor for Frederick(1) Turner, bp 1771 83 BROWN John d 30/3/61, aged 30 48 BURFIELD Mr Steyning.
