To Erect Tablet For Quaker Ministers Out At Cane Creek
       Cane Creek, Aug. 14-—A monument to John and Abigail Pike pioneer Quaker ministers in the Cane Creek community, will be unveiled here next Saturday by the Cane Creek Memorial association. The monument will be in the form of an arch with a table; on one side for John and on the other side for Abigail.
      John Pike was born in 1702 , and died in 1774. He is buried in the old cemetery that sprawls around the old Friends Meeting house here. Abigail was born in 1709 but the year of her death is uncertain and the place of her burial unknown, although it is supposed that she died somewhere in the vicinity of New Garden or Westfield.
      The grave of John Pike is beside that of Alexander Stuart who married the youngest daughter. A monument to Alexander Stuart, who was a pioneer farmer was unveiled last year.
     John Pike was an overseer in the Friends church. He came to this community from Perquimans county. His wife was a minister and the meager records that have come down from those days show that she was a prominent woman and a strong leader of the Quaker community. John and Abigail Pike were the first worshippers at Cane Creek Meeting House, which was erected in 1751.
     The program that is being arranged for the occasion will include addresses by prominent members of the Allen-Dixon-Pike family. Special music is also being arranged. Good Site for Cane Creek Meeting http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncccmm/
