     SNOW CAMP - Final rites for Arthur Allen, 85, of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Bethlehem Pilgrim Church.
     Mr. Allen died Sunday afternoon in a Burlington hospital.
     A native of Alamance County he was the son of John and Caroline Stuart Allen. The husband of the late Mrs. Ethel Workman, he was a retired mail carrier, a farmer and a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting and the Snow Camp Junior Order.
     Survivors include two sons, John Clifton and A. Floyd Allen, both of Rt. 3, Snow Camp; two daughters, Mrs. Norman Clark and Mrs. Della Isley, both of Rt. 1, Snow Camp; two brothers, T. F. and Maurice Allen, both of Rt. 1, Snow Camp; and two sisters,  Mrs. Lawrence Russell of Rt. 6, Burlington and Miss Stella Allen of Presbyterian Home in High Point.
     The service was conducted by the Rev. Bobby Whitfield, pastor, and the Rev. John Kenerly, pastor of Cane Creek Friends Meeting. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mozelle Griffin Allen
     SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Mozelle Griffin Allen, 81, of 1732 Quakenbush Road, Snow Camp, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Moses Cone Extended Care, Greensboro.
     The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Roger Coburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
     A native of Chatham County, Mrs. Allen was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church where she was a trustee and a former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Wesleyan Women Missionary Group.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Floyd Allen; her parents, John "Tump" and May Terry Griffin; and sister, Miss Fern Griffin.
     She is survived by three sons, Lynn Allen and wife, Nancy D. of Snow Camp, Van Allen and wife, Mary Don of Liberty, Griffin Allen and wife, Mary Ann of Lexington; two daughters, Pamela Causey and husband, Charlie of Liberty, Patricia Morgan and husband, Steve of Greensboro; two sisters, Bernice Webster and Agnes Pickett, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Debbie Teague, David L. Allen, Cindy Robertson, Kim Butler, Angie Allen, Andy Allen, Heather Causey, and Jennie Causey; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Jordan Teague, Laura Allen, and Megan and Nathan Butler.
     The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, and other times at the family home.

     Snow Camp, Nov. 22 --- Funeral services for Thomas Willard Allen, eight months, who died at Duke Hospital on Saturday after being ill for one day, were held at Bethlehem holiness Church yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. G. C. Craven, pastor, officiated.
     Music was by the church choir and interment was in the church cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Bobby Patterson, Jack Patterson, James McBride, and Eugene Howard.
     Flowers were carried by friends of the family.

     SNOW CAMP Mr. Lester R. Amick, 79, of 1256 Major Hill Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Britthaven of Chapel Hill.
     A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Coburn officiating.
     A native of Randolph County, Mr. Amick was a World War II Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and was a retired employee of Burlington Industries, House Fabrics.
     He is survived by his wife, Viola S. Amick of the home; daughter, Vicky A. Cheek and husband, Jack of Snow Camp; granddaughter, Lisa Lowe of Snow Camp; sisters, Louise Buchanan of Liberty and Alene Buchanan of Greensboro; and brother, Eugene Amick of Liberty.
     The family will receive friends following the service in the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall and other times, at the residence.

     RAMSEUR - Byron J. Andrews, Sr., 77, of 1255 Foushee Rd., died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at the Sunrise Health & Rehabilitation, in Siler City.
     The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Pentecostal Victory Temple in Siler City, conducted by the Rev. Reggie Rakes. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
     A native of Chatham County, he retired from Texfi Corp. in Liberty and a member of the Pentecostal Victory Temple in Siler City; where he served as former church secretary and treasurer, and as Sunday school teacher.
     Survivors are his wife, Naomi Phillips Andrews; son, Byron J. Andrews, Jr. of the home; daughters, Brenda Moody of Siler City and Bonnie Evans of Lugoff, SC; brother, J.D. Andrews of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christie Bright, Kevin Moody, Andrew Evans, Christopher Evans; and one great-grandchild, Natalie Bright.

     SILER CITY - Mrs. Edna Dicks Andrews, 90, of the Wesleyan Arms Retirement Center in High Point died Friday at High Point Regional Hospital.
     Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Wesleyan Church of Siler City of which she was a member. Burial will be in Bethleham Wesleyan Church.
     Formerly of Siler City and a Guilford County native, she was a retired secretary for Boling Chair Co.
     Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
     The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home 7 to 9 p.m. today, other times at the residence of Darrell Andrews, Route 1 in Siler City.

Georgie Ruth Andrews
     Mrs. Georgie Ruth Andrews, 78, of Route 1, Siler City, mother of Mrs. J. Thomas Sheperd of Burlington, died in a Siler City hospital yesterday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock.
     Mrs. Andrews was a native of Alamance County and a member of Siler City Pilgrim Church. She was the wife of the late John F. Andrews.
     In addition to the daughter here, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Clarence E. Vernon of Siler City, Mrs. J. O. Venable of Route 1, Kernersville, and Mrs. Dennis Winslow of Route, 2, Hertfort; five sons, Audie F. Andrews of Route 2, Siler City, Wesley Andrews and J. D. Andrews of Route 1, Siler City; one brother, Rev. O. L. Ruth of High Point; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
     Final rites will be held at Siler City Pilgrim Church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, Burial will be in Bethlehem Pilgrim Church Cemetery.

     SILER CITY - Imogene Frazier Andrews, 80, of 1291 Harold Andrews Road died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at her residence.
     The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998 at First Wesleyan Church, 608 N. 3rd Ave., Siler City, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Boone and the Rev. Ronald Thompson. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Snow Camp.
     Mrs. Andrews was a member of the First Wesleyan Church and the Ladies Bible Class. She was a homemaker.
     Survivors include son, Darrell Andrews of Siler City; daughters, Clarice "Pat" Harris of Siler City, Doris Russell of Pittsboro; brother, Kermit Frazier of Ramseur; granddaughters, Melissa Rives of Pittsboro, Donna Jones and Angel Andrews, both of Siler City; grandson, Forrest Andrews of Siler City; great-granddaughter, L'Oreal Jones of Siler City; and great-grandson, Andrew Jones of Siler City.
     The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 1998 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City and other times at the home of a granddaughter, Donna Jones, 420 Howard Gilliland Road, Siler City.

     SILER CITY- Naomi Phillips Andrews, 81, of 1255 Foushee Road, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living, Pittsboro.
     The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City, conducted by the Rev. Larry Soblonte. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Snow Camp.
     Mrs. Andrews was a native of Chatham County and was a member of Pentecostal Victory Temple, where she served as pianist and attended Rives Chapel Baptist Church. She was retired from Siler City Mfg. Co and was preceded in death by her husband, Byron J. Andrews Sr., two sisters, Myrl Brewer Martin and Dorcas Key.
     Surviving are daughters, Brenda A. Moody of Siler City and Bonnie A. Evans of Lugoff, S.C.; son Byron J. (BJ) Andrews Jr., of Pittsboro; brothers, Randall Phillips of Bennett; sisters, Carrie Brewer of Bennett, Pauline Maness of Greensboro and Esther Craven of Asheboro; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Robert A. Blalock
     Robert Alvin (Bob) Blalock, 49, of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, died Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Veterans Hospital. Durham, after sir. months of falling health and nine days of critical illness.
     A native of Alamance County, he was a son of Mrs. Isabel Webster Blalock who survives and the late Jacob Floyd Blalock. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. and an employe of the maintenance department for Burlington City Schools.
     He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Stuart Blalock of the home; his mother of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; three brothers, Jacob Floyd Blalock of Graham. James Vernon Blalock of Burlington, and Lee Roy Blalock of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; two sisters. Mrs. Margaret Newton of Rt. 1, Haw River, and Mrs. Mary Lou Stuart of Snow Camp.
     Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Gurney Laws. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
     The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 Thursday night.

Mrs. Vera Mae Stuart Blalock
     SILER CITY — Mrs. Vera Mae Stuart Blalock, 80, of 1356 Jessie Bridges Road, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Hospice Home.
     A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Robert Alvin Blalock, and the daughter of the late Peter M Stuart and Rosa Rowe Stuart. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
     She is survived by four brothers, Mr. Jasper Earl Stuart of Graham, Mr. Henry Stuart of Siler City, and Mr. Harold Ray Stuart and Mr. Odell Holt Stuart, both of Snow Camp; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
     She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Stuart and Maben Stuart.
     The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Paul Edwards, pastor of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Service in Graham from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and at other times at the residence.

Elizabeth Boggs
     Mrs. Elizabeth Boggs, 70, of Graham, Route No. 2, died Saturday at midnight, at her home, after an extended illness of more than six years.
     She was the wife of the late Nathan Boggs, and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gabrael Vincent and a native of Chatham county.
     Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Bethlehem church and interment was made in the church cemetery. Rev. Tom J. Kenyon, assisted by Mrs. Kenyon. conducted services.
     Music was furnished by the church choir.
     The deceased is survived by only one sister, the only living member of a family of 23. Mrs. M. L. Stewart, of Graham. Route No. 2. Pallbearers were: M. W. Roach, Willie Hinshaw, Bun Terry, Al Moon, S. L. Terry and Arthur Moon.
     Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Henry Vincent, assisted by Misses Ruby Thrift, Josie Thrift. Annie Kenyon, Fannie Stevenson, Lillie Sykes, Annie Bell Richardson and Margaret Kenyon.

     GIBSONVILLE - Wilbur "Bill" Brookbank, 82, of 614 Burlington Rd., died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at Moses Cone Hospital, after six months of failing health and one week critically ill.
     The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Gibsonville Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Paul Morton, Pastor of the church and the Rev. Leon Mann, a retired minister. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, in Snow Camp.
     He was a native of Rockingham County, the son of the late Samuel Kell Brookbank and the late Myrtle Morgan Brookbank. He was a retired supervisor with Kellwood Hosiery. He was a member of Gibsonville Christian Church, where he has served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and choir member. He was a former member of The Gideons.
     Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Wicker Hursey Brookbank of the home; son, Ronald E. Brookbank of Snow Camp; step-sons, Charles Hursey of Elon College and Larry Hursey of Whitsett; sisters, Mrs. Carrie Brookbank Branson of Greensboro, Mrs. Jewell Brookbank Fulp of High Point and Mrs. Louise Brookbank Brown of Thomasville; brothers, Taylor Brookbank of High Point and Sam Hardy Brookbank of Newton; two grandchildren, Angela Burgess of Greensboro and Kelly Brookbank of Charlotte; five step-grandchildren, Chuck Hursey, Carey Hursey Apple, Chris Hursey, Kent Hursey and Lori Hursey Williams; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gilbert E. Collins
     LIBERTY — Mr. Gilbert Elwood Collins, 66, of 8375 Sylvan Road, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after nine years of failing health.
     A native of Amelia County, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Anna Lois Moon Collins, who survives, and the son of Mr. Grady Ray Collins and Mrs. Laura Elva Thompson Collins, both deceased. He retired from Freeway Foods after many years of service. He was a former member of the Snow Camp Fire Department and the Ruritan Club.
     Survivors other than his wife of the home include four daughters, Ms. Gayle Kinder and Mrs. Rosemary Jaster, both of Siler City, Mrs. Rita Coltrane of Liberty and Ms. Christi Whitley of Graham; two sons, Mr. Mickey Ray Collins of Gibsonville and Mr. Rick Lee Collins of Liberty; two sisters, Mrs. Wanda Glosson of Graham and Mrs. Rachel Hudson of Siler City; seven grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and stepmother, Ms. Sallie Mann Collins.
     The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McClure Chapel in Graham. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Crissie Belle Cox
     SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Crissie Belle Luther Cox, 81, of Rt. 3, Randleman, formerly of the Snow Camp area, was dead on arrival at an Asheboro hospital Tuesday night following a sudden illness.
     A native of Randolph County, she had lived in Alamance County near Snow Camp for 20 years. She moved back to Randolph County a year ago. She was a member for 20 years of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church near Snow Camp.
     Survivors include her husband, Robert Peter Cox of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Owens of Rt. ? Asheboro, and Mrs. Ella Kennedy of Rt. 3, High Point; three sons, Elmer Cox of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, Arlie Cox of Rt. 3, Randleman and Lewis Cox of Rt. 6, Asheboro; one brother, Roy Luther of Asheboro; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
     Final rites will be held at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church near Snow Camp Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     The body will remain at Ridge-McDowell Funeral Home in Asheboro until taken to the church for the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.

Mrs. Mary Cox
     Mrs. Mary Ima Cox, 64, of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, died Saturday N.C. Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, after a long illness.
     A Forsyth County native, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Sola Magalene Lee. She was a former employe of DuraTred Hosiery Mills Co. in Burlington and attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
     Surviving are her husband, Elmer Garrett Cox of the home; two sons, William P. Cox of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, and Bill Cox of Camden, Ark.; six daughters, Miss Dolores Cox of the home, and Mrs. Doris C. Kivett, Mrs. Yvonne McPherson, Mrs. Judy Sessoms and Mrs. Annette Phillips, all of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, and Mrs. Carolyn Bunting of Rt. 7, Asheboro; a sister, Mrs. Iris Loman of Hillsborough; four brothers, Aubrey Lee of Randleman, Horace Lee of Elon College, Hobart Lee of Amelia, Va., and Arlis Lee of Rt. 2, Mebane; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
     Funeral arrangements will be announced by McClure Funeral Home in Graham.

     Final rites for Mrs. Mary Ima Cox will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Gurney Laws, the Rev. Larry Johnson and the Rev. Bobby Whitfield.
     Mrs. Cox, 64, of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, died Saturday at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill after a long illness.
     Burial will be in the church cemetery and the body will remain in McClure Funeral Home in Graham until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9.

Robert Cox
     Robert Peter Cox, 86, of Randleman, died Wednesday evening in the Randolph Hospital in Asheboro following five years declining health and one week critical illness.
     A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late Zeno and Hannah Hinshaw Cox and the husband of the late Crissie Ball Luther Cox. A former resident of Snow Camp for 20 years, he was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church in Snow Camp.
     The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alonzo Kennedy of High Point, Mrs. Esco Owens of Asheboro; three sons, Elmer Cox of Rt. 1, Snow Camp, Arlie Cox of Randleman, Lewis Cox of Asheboro; 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
     The family will be at the Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro this evening from 7 to 9. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

     SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Josie Thrift Crutchfield, 82, of 8668 Crutchfield Road, Snow Camp, died Saturday, August 28, 1993, in Alamance County Hospital, Burlington.
     A native of Chatham County, Mrs. Crutchfield was the daughter of the late James G. and Ella Thrift. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Henry Allen Crutchfield. She was a member of the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and the Womens Missionary Society.
     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Larry Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
     She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Ellington of Snow Camp; sister, Mrs. Ruby Henderson of Graham; grandson, Jeff Ellington and granddaughter, Mrs. Penny Gasco both of Snow Camp, and two great-grandchildren.
     The family will be receive friends at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home 7-9 tonight.

     Mrs. Culberson was a native of Chatham County, a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and was retired from A. J. Schneierson & Sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colon G. Culberson.
     Surviving are daughter Wanda C. Welch and husband Mike of Carlsbad, N.M., sons, Ed Culberson and wife Linda and Shelby L. (Porky) Culberson and wife, Nancy Faye, all of Siler City; sisters, Treva T. Pegram and Frances T. Smith, both of Siler City and Mary G. Graham of Ramseur; brothers, George C. Terry and Hobart Terry, both of Siler City and Clyde Terry at Spartanburg, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Man Dies Of Wound From Bullet
Phryne Hargrove
SILER CITY — Phryne Hargrove, 39, of the Crutchfield Cross Roads Community on Route 1
     Siler City, died this morning a 3:15 o'clock in a Siler City hospital.
     Dr. R. D. Baxley, Chatham County coroner, said that Mr. Hargrove died of a self - inflicted bullet wound after shooting himself Thursday night.
     A native of Chatham County he was a member of Plainfield Friends Church. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hargrove of Route 1, Siler City, who survive.
     Surviving with his parents are his wife, Mrs. Wilma Allen Hargrove; two daughters, Ann Sheridan and Cynthia Gail Hargrove of the home; one son, Thomas Ray Hargrove of the home; two sisters. Mrs. Wade H. Perry Jr. and Mrs. Steve Barth, both of Route 1, Siler City; one brother, Byron Hargrove of Route 1, Siler City.
     The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at Bethlehem Pilgrim Holiness Church with Rev. Don Ledbelter and Rev. Charles McHargue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
     The body will remain at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City until placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

     SNOW CAMP — Alvah A. Hinshaw, 72, Of Rt. 1, ;Snow Camp, died Sunday in a Chatham
     hospital following two years of declining health and five weeks of critical illness.
     A native of Chatham County he was the son of the late Ishim J. and Mary Andrew Hinshaw, and the husband of :Mrs. Mary Griffin Hinshaw, who survives of the home. He was a member of Plainfield Friends Meeting and was a retired textile employe.
     In addition to this wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edith A. Payne of the home and Mrs. Ray Thompson of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; one son, J. Howard Hinshaw of the home; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Moon and Mrs. Eula Pike, both of Rt. 2, Liberty; and three brothers, W. A. Hinshaw of Rt. 1, Siler City, Rezzie D. Hinshaw of Burlington and Clyde J. Hinshaw of Rt 1, Snow Camp.
     Final rites will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Terry Kirsey, the Rev. G. E. Lane and the Rev. Hadley Robertson will officiate.
     The body will remain at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.

     Mr. Johnson was a native of Chatham County, retired insurance salesman with Southland Life and a member of First Wesleyan Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for the Mens Bible Class and served as assistant pastor. He attended N.C. State University and Owosso Bible College, Michigan. Hugh played high school basketball and baseball and was very active in the little and pony leagues and was a member of Silk Hope Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulala A. Johnson.
     Survivors are daughter Debbie J. Patterson of Winston-Salem; sons, the Rev. Larry K. Johnson of Asheboro, Donald H. Johnson of Siler City and Gerald W. Johnson of Greensboro; brother Pike Johnson of Liberty; sister Myra J. Loman of Liberty; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

     BURLINGTON — Mrs. Lucy Curtis Love, 88, a resident of Alamance Health Care Center, died at 5:39 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
     A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Gervas E. Love, and the daughter of William Oscar Curtis and Margaret Griffin Curtis, both deceased. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries.
     Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda L. Foss of Annandale, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Josephine C. Clapp of Burlington; and two brothers, Mr. Marvin C. Curtis and Mr. James E. Curtis, both of Graham.

     Clyde Milton Lowe, 76, of 1015 Durham St., died at 2:30 o'clock this morning in a Burlington hospital after several years of declining health and two months of critical illness.
     Mr. Lowe was the retired owner and operator of C. M. Lowe Candy Co. He was a native of Chatham County, son of the late Bryant and Emma Carter Lowe. He was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church.
     Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Belle Richardson Lowe of the home; one son Wade Lowe of Siler City; one adopted son, William Siler of Siler City; one sister, Mrs. Dixie Gant of Greensboro; two brothers, John Lowe of Greensboro and Cletus Lowe of Siler City; one-half-sister, Mrs.Wade McPherson of Siler City; two half-brothers, Albert Lowe and Henry Lowe, both of Siler City; two grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Dallie Moon McBane, 62, of 247 Albany Street died in a local hospital yesterday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock after several months of illness.
     A native of Alamance County Mrs. McBane was the daughter of the late H. E. Moon and Mrs. Achsa Perreti Moon. She was the wife of H. Ed McBane, who survives, and was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.
     Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Mrs. June Vaughn of this city; five sisters, Mrs. Flossie Bare, Mrs. Lean Griffin and Mrs. Ava McVey, all of Snow Camp, Mrs. Clady McBane of this city and Mrs. Penie Pendergraph of Route 1, Haw River; four brothers, John Moon and Sam Moon, both of Snow Camp, Wade Moon of Charleston, S. C. and Jim Moon of Orlando, Fla., and two grandchildren.
     Final rites will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock at Park Avenue Presbyterian
     Church, conducted by Rev. K. M. Misenheimer, pastor. Burial will be in Bethlehem Pilgrim Holiness Church Cemetery near Snow Camp.
     The body was taken to the resident this afternoon and will lie in state at the church tomorrow for 30 minutes prior to the service.

Local Man Takes Life With Rifle
     Doc Delacy McBane, 44, of Route 6, Burlington, took his own life yesterday when he shot himself in the forehead with a .22 caliber rifle, police reported today.
     McBane was found at the home of his brother, Ed McBane of 247 Albany Street, yesterday afternoon. Investigators said that it was believed that he, took his life sometime between 6 o'clock yesterday morning and 12:02 o'clock yesterday afternoon when he was found.
     The body was found by A. J. McBane, another brother, when he came to the home at about noon yesterday. The body was found in the living room of the home.
     County Coroner Lewis Strickland said that McBane had been treated recently for a nervous condition at Camp Butner. He ruled that the official cause of death was suicide. No note was left.
     McBane was a native of Chatham County and the son of the late Jonothan J. McBane and Mrs. Stella Linens McBane. He was employed by Mitchell Grocery in Burlington.
     He is survived by his wife Mrs. Irene Albright McBane of Route 6.
     Surviving in addition to his wife are two step - sons, Jerry Long and Jimmy Long, both of Burlington; five sisters, Mrs. Lela Smith of Snow Camp, Mrs. Eula Mitchell, Mrs. Swannie Webster Mitchell, Mrs. Sadie Anthony, all of Burlington and Mrs. Ava Brookbanks of Liberty; three brothers, Ed McBane and Allen McBane, both of Burlington, and P. S. McBane of Guilford College.
     The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Pilgrim Holiness Church near Snow Camp tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Officiating will be Rev. W. C. Bulla, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Coy L. Thompson, pastor of Glen Raven Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     The body will remain at Rich and Thompson mortuary in Burlington. It will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.

     Henry Edward "Ed" McBane, 76, of 247 Albany St., Burlington, died at 4:30 a.m. today in Alamance County Hospital after 10 months of failing health and four days of critical illness.
     A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of the late Dallie Moon McBane and the son of the late Jonathan Jackson McBane and Stella Linnens McBane.
     He was a retired employe of Burlington Industries.
     Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. June Vaughn of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Lela Smith and Mrs. Ava Brookbank both of Snow Camp, Mrs. Eula Mitchell, Mrs. Swannie Webster and Mrs. Sadie Anthony all of Burlington; one brother, Allen McBane of Burlington and two grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rich and Thompson Funeral Chapel in Burlington with the Rev. W. T. Perkins, pastor of Westview Presbyterian, and the Rev. Gurney Laws, pastor of Bethlehem  Wesleyan Church, officiating.
     Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
     The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary tonight from 7 to 9 for visitation.
     At other times the family will be at the residence on Albany Street.

J. J. McBANE
     J. J. McBane died at the age of 63 in a Greensboro hospital at 8 p. m. Friday. He had been in failing health for three years and critically ill one day. The husband of Mrs. Stella Linens McBane, who survives him, his home was Route 2, Snow Camp. He was a native of Alamance county, son of the late Daniel and Louis Williams McBane, and a prominent farmer in his community.
     Surviving are five daughters, Miss Lela McBane, Route 2, Snow Camp, Mrs. Eula Mitchell, Burlington, Mrs. Swannie Webster, Burlington, Mrs. Sadie Culberson, Burlington, and Mrs. Ava Brookbanks, Liberty; four sons, H. E. Allen J., and Dock McBane, all of Burlington, and P. S. McBane of Greensboro; and seven grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Holiness church at 2 p. m. Sunday, with Rev. Glen Craven, Rev. Ray J. Smith and Rev. D. R. Saunders in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

     BURLINGTON - Eula McBane Mitchell, 88, of Burlington died Saturday, Feb. 11, 1995, at Alamance Memorial Hospital following a one month critical illness.

     SILER CITY- Ralph Cletus Moon of 2305 Flint Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005.
     The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, Snow Camp, conducted by the Rev. Roger Coburn, the Rev. Gary Waisner and the Rev. Larry Frye. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     Mr. Moon was a native of Alamance County, a lifetime member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, where he served as superintendent, choir member and Sunday school board member. He served in the 104th Timberwolf Division, U.S. Army. He was employed with North Carolina Seating Company and was owner/operator of C & M Installation and Repairs for approximately 35 years installing school equipment.
     Survivors include wife Olene Wicker Moon of the home; daughters, Faye Kinton and husband David and Brenda Brower and husband Jimmy Jr., all of Siler City; grandson Christopher Brower; granddaughters, Mary Alice Phillips and husband Travis and Patricia Brown; great-grandsons, Derek Brown and Cody Brown; brothers Otis Moon and Dacie Moon, both of Liberty and sisters, Anna Collins and Minnie Kenyon, both of of Liberty.
     Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Ave., Siler City and other times at the home.

Rites Held Today For Mr. Morris
     Final rites for Douglas McArthur Morris, 27, of Rt. 3, Graham, were held today at 3 o'clock at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military rites.
     Mr. Morris died as a result of injuries received in a crash Saturday morning at 7:45 o'clock. He was pronounced dead on arrival at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
     The accident occurred at the intersection of South Main and Sixth Streets. The pickup truck Mr. Morris was driving was spun around in the road and flipped over as a result of the collision. He was driving a truck owned by Huffman Oil Co.
     The driver of the other vehicle, John W. Burch of 408? W. Fifth St., ha been charged with manslaughter and running a red light in connection with the accident.
     The service was conducted by the Rev. Roy Dorsett, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Whitfield of Gaston, former pastor of the church.
     A native of Alamance County, Mr. Morris was the son of Mrs. Mallie Harris Morris of Rt. 2, Snow Camp, and the late Willie G. Morris. He was an employe of Huffman Oil Co., a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and the Sylvan Ruritan Club, and a veteran of the Vietnam war.

      ELON COLLEGE — Mr. James Roy Thomas Murray Sr., 60, of 3437 Shepherd Road, Lot 60, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
     A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sallie Jane Gerringer Murray, who survives, and the son of Mr. Alvis Monroe Murray and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ashley Murray, both deceased.
     Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Catherine (Karl) Webb or Orlando, Fla., and Miss Barbara Murray of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sons, Mr. Ricky Ezell of Greensboro and Mr. Jamie Murray of Hinesville, Ga.; six stepchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Stanley of Ruffin, Mrs. Josephine Johnson of Greensboro and Mrs. Lois Wheeler of Graham; two grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and 18 great-stepgrandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Betty Salmons.
     A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church cemetery by the Rev. Bobby Fann, pastor of Glen Raven Baptist Church.
     The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 9 to 10 this morning and at other times at the home.

     GRAHAM - Mrs. Nellie Curtis Newland, 55, of Greensboro died Sunday at 5:10 a.m. in a Greensboro hospital following a lengthy illness.
     A native of Alamance county, she was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Griffin Curtis, who survives of Rt. 1, Graham, and the late William Oscar Curtis. She was employed as a beautician at Marie's Beauty Salon in Greensboro and was a member of Magnolia Street Baptist Church in Greensboro.

     Graham -- Henry Harrison Richardson, 81, of Rt. 2, Graham, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday morning at 9:45 o'clock.
     A native of Alamance County, Mr. Richardson was the son of the late Thomas and Dora Linens Richardson. He was first married to the late Mrs. Minnie Daisy Shaw Richardson, who died in 1960, and later married Mrs. Lila Scott Jones Richardson of the home, who survives.
     He was a prominent farmer in the Snow Camp area and was a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
     Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six daughters, Mrs. Frank Mann, Mrs. Melvin Lowe, Mrs. John Garrett, all of Burlington, Mrs. Fred Shaw of Rt. 2, Graham.      Maurice William Roach, 90, of Greensboro, died Saturday in the Alamance County Hospital, following an illness of one year.

Rev. Ozra L. Ruth
     HIGH POINT - Rev. Ozra Lorenzo Ruth, 91, a retired Wesleyan minister of 4807 S. Main St., suffered a heart attack and died at his home Sunday.
     A native of Alamance County, he was the son of John Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Stuart Ruth.
     Rev. Ruth went to school at God's Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio and served as in Snow Camp, and in Randleman before coming to High Point in 1912 as pastor of First Holiness Church.
     He was the founder of First Wesleyan Church where he served for 32 years. While in High Point, he was a member of the High Point School Board and the High Point Housing Authority. He was also a member of District 4 of Southern Pilgrim Holiness Conference, the General Board in Indianapolis, Ind. and was field secretary for the Southern Pilgrim College in Kernersville.
     He has held pastorates in Ramseur and Burlington and in 1957, after retirement, Rev. Ruth and his wife returned to High Point where he was pastor emeritus of First Wesleyan Church and a former teacher of the Men's Bible Class until he became disabled.
     He was married September 14, 1909 to Rachel Hodgin who survives at the home.
     He is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Ken Millard of Young Island, S.C., Mrs. Johnny Lucas of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Clarence Hale of High Point; four sons, Hubert S. Ruth of Orlando, Fla., Elmer L. Ruth of the home, Jessie T. Ruth of Norristown, Pa., John W. Ruth of Lincolnton, Ga., 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.
     The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church in High Point by Dr. J. A. Grout and Dr. Clyde A. Parker. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church cemetery near Snow Camp.
     The body will remain at Cumby Funeral Home in Archdale until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
     The family will be at the Cumby Funeral Home Monday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

      Alamance — Mr. Neal Henry Shackelford Sr., 92, of 4143 N.C. 62 South, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home after a short illness.
      A native of Price, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Nina Mae Mitchell Shackelford, and the son of Mr. James Samuel Shackelford and Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Hawkins Shackelford, both deceased. He was a retired Alamance County businessman and textile executive for more than 60 years and a long time member and supporter of the Democratic Party.
      He is survived by a son, Mr. Neal Henry Shackelford Jr. of Alamance.
      He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Elizabeth Shackelford and Ms. Sudie Shackelford; two brothers, Mr. Samuel Shackelford and Mr. William Shackelford.
      The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Roger Coburn, pastor of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

     SNOW CAMP — Mrs. Victory Sizemore Sparks, 82, of 9559 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Crawley Memorial Hospital Nursing Care, Boiling Springs.
     A native of West Virginia, she was a retired nurse and was of the Baptist faith.
     Survivors include three sons, Joseph Greer Sparks, Dexter Harry Sparks and Kelly Dean Sparks, all of North Carolina; four daughters, Olivia S. Meadows of Maryland and Gwen S. Pugh, Nancy S. Stuart and Patricia M. Sparks, all of North Carolina; three brothers, Harry Sizemore of Tazewell, Va., Bill Sizemore of Shreveport, La., and Brownie Sizemore of De Land, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
     The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, Snow Camp, by the Rev. Dale Hubbard. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church cemetery.
     The family will be at 9559 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp.

     BURLINGTON — Jasper Earle Stuart, 81, of 2143 Roney Lineberry Road, Burlington, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Dogwood Rest Home.
     A native of Alamance County, he was born May 18, 1925, to Peter and Rosa Stuart, now deceased. He was a retired self-employed logger.
     Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Boone and wife, Janice, of Pace, Fla.; David Stuart and wife, Nancy, of Whittier; Terry Stuart and wife, Sheryl, of Burlington; Wayne Stuart and wife, Peggy, of Snow Camp; and Steve Stuart and wife, Donna, of Martinsville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Blalock; and five brothers, John Hugh Stuart, Maben Stuart, Henry Stuart, Harold Ray Stuart and Odell Stuart.
     A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church cemetery with the Rev. Dale Mathews officiating.
     The family will be at McClure Funeral Service in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.

Mrs. Mary Lou Blaylock Stuart
     BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mary Lou Blaylock Stuart, 65, of 501 Columbia Ave., died at 2:10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at her home after an illness of seven months, two weeks critical.
     A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Jacob Floyd Blaylock and Mrs. Isabell Webster Blaylock, both deceased. She was retired from Arby’s of Graham and attended Hico Baptist Church.
     Survivors include a daughter, Miss Darlene Stuart of the home; two sons, Mr. Jimmy Stuart of Burlington and Mr. Keith Stuart of Siler City; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Newton of Graham; a brother, Mr. J. F. Blaylock Jr. of Graham; and 11 grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Jerry Stuart and Mr. Bob Stuart and five brothers, Mr. Richard Blaylock, Mr. Bill Blaylock, Mr. Bernie Blaylock, Mr. Leroy Blaylock and Mr. Bob Blaylock.
     The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Denny Wall. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Maben L. Stuart
     SNOW CAMP – Mr. Maben Lee Stuart, 75, of 9559-K Snow Camp Road, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after five years of failing health and a critical illness of one week.
     A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Peter Stuart and Mrs. Rosa Roe Stuart, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Snow Camp and Poole’s Fox Pen Hunting Club in Siler City.
     Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Vera Blalock of Siler City; and four brothers, Mr. Jasper Stuart of Graham, Mr. Odell Stuart and Mr. Harold Ray Stuart, both of Snow Camp, and Mr. Henry Stuart of Siler City.
     He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Hugh Stuart.
     A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Snow Camp by the Rev. Dale Hubbard.

     SNOW CAMP — Odell Holt Stuart, 70, of 9635 Snow Camp Road, died Friday, June 2 4, 2005.
     A native of Alamance County, he was a retired truck driver.
     Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Stuart Eastwood and husband James of Burlington; a son, Keith Holt "Cotton" Stuart of Cedar Grove; nine grandchildren, Nikki Stuart of Mebane, Kevin Stuart and Jeremy Stuart, both of Snow Camp, Neil Stuart, Alex Stuart, Dustin Stuart, Crystal Earp, and Anita Earp, all of Burlington, and Jerry Lynn Stuart, Jr.; one greatgrandchild, Kevin Holt Stuart Jr. of Snow Camp; a daughter-in-law, Edie Stuart of Burlington; companion, Cindy Alexander of the home; special daughter, Carmon Isley of the home; and brother, Jasper Stuart of Graham.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Terry Stuart and Peter M. Stuart; his wife of 33 years, Mary B. Stuart; three sons, James "Jimmy" Odell Stuart, Jerry Lynn Stuart and Robert Glenn "Bob" Stuart; a sister, Vera Blaylock; and four brothers, Hugh Stuart, Maben Stuart, Henry Stuart, and Harold Ray Stuart.
     The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham by the Revs. Dale Matthews, Delton Agnor and Mark Tope. Burial will be at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Mary Lavina Terry Died Monday Afternoon
     Mrs. Mary Lavinia Terry, aged 70 years and nine months, died Monday afternoon at. 12:45 at her home south of Snow Camp, following a long illness. She is survived by her husband, T. B. Terry; the following sons and daughters; W. L. McPherson, Burlington; H. L. Terry, Siler City; W. A. Terry, Graham; J. M. Terry, Chapel Hill, and Mrs. C. C. Stout, Snow Camp; by three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Dixon, Veto, Ala., and Mrs. James Griffin, and Mrs. S. H. Griffin, Snow Camp; by two half brothers, S. H. McPherson, Snow Camp, and W. J. McPherson, Greensboro, and by 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
     Funeral service will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 10:30 o'clock at Bethlehem Holiness church, Chatham county, by Rev. J. T. Kenyon, assisted by Rev. H. C. Wrenn, and the body interred in the church cemetery.

     A native of Chatham County, Mr. Underwood was a retired mining contractor.

Mr. Ralph W. Webster
     MEBANE — Mr. Ralph William Webster, 82, of 7318 Hebron Church Road, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of three weeks.
     A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Bertha Rice Webster, who survives, and the son of the late Mr. Cary N. Webster and Mrs. Addie Farrell Webster. He was retired from General Electric Corp in Mebane and was formerly employed with Tower Hosiery Mill in Burlington and Eagle Oil Co. in Mebane. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a Sunday school teacher.
     Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Betsy Webster Shambley of Haw River and Mrs. Patricia Webster Wheeley of Cary; two sons, Mr. Clyde T. Webster of Mebane and the Rev. Stanley N. Webster of Portsmouth, Ohio; four grandchildren; a brother, Mr. Allen Webster of Burlington; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lynch of Haw River, Mrs. Rachel Walters of Raleigh, and Mrs. Ruby Lee Robertson of Burlington.
     He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Selma Arrudo, Ms. Viola Webster, Mrs. Nellie Mae Somers, and Mrs. Ruth Webster Smith; and seven brothers, Mr. Frank Webster, Mr. Jesse Webster, Mr. Herman Webster, Mr. Cecil Webster, Mr. Dace Webster, Mr. Henry Webster, and Mr. Daniel Webster.
     The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hawfields Presbyterian Church by Dr. Curtis Fussell, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
     The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.

Swannie Webster
     Mrs. Swannie McBane Webster of 520 Miller St., Burlington died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital of Alamance following six years of critical illness and three days of critical illness.
     A native of Snow Camp, she was the daughter of the late J. J. and Stella Lindley McBane and the wife of the late Ralph William Webster.
     Survivors are her son, Bobby Webster of Burlington; daughters, Mrs. Roy H. Duffer and Mrs. Sylvia Terry, both of Haw River; brother, Allen McBane of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Sadie Anthony and Mrs. Eula Mitchell, both of Burlington, Mrs. Lelia Smith and Mrs. Ava Brookbank, both of Snow Camp, and four grandchildren.
     Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. The Rev. W. L. Wolfe, pastor of Haw River United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
     The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 p.m. today, at the residence of Mrs. Roy Duffer in Haw River.
