I decided that it was finally time to "get serious" re: the search for Nicholas DORR and his relatives in the 1850 Census for Boston. At the Family History Center, I ordered the "most likely" roll of microfilm that would contain Nicholas, his sisters and his parents - Wards 9 and 10.
I started going through that film, frame by frame, seaching for anyone who looks like "mine". As you might expect, I did NOT find "my Nicholas"...
"But", I thought, "why stop at just DORRs? Why not make an index to ALL 'German-born' in ALL Wards of Boston in 1850?"
Thus was born the GERMANS in BOSTON RESOURCE CENTER's first project for 1999!
Only WARD 10 has been indexed; as other wards are worked on, the information will be added to the project and the FINDING AID will be updated.
