5655 Mary BLOTT.  Born bef 1615 in England. Died bef 27 May 1662 in Hartford, Hartford, CT or Northampton, Hampshire, MA.

Thomas Woodford and Mary Blott were immigrants aboard the William and Francis, and appear in Roxbury 1632/3, in Hartford 1639/40, in Northampton 1655/6.

5660 Thomas MEAKINS. Born abt 1589 in probably Oundle, England. Died abt 1646 in Braintree, MA.

Thomas, his wife and son Thomas were all servants to Edmund Quincy. It is likely that they came to New England with him aboard the Griffin in 1633.

He married Katherine GREENE, on 27 Jan 1607/8 in Thorpe Achurch, Northamptonshire, England.

They had the following children:
2830 i. Thomas (~1609-1687)
ii. Allen (bp. 1610-bur. 1610)

vi. Ann (bp. 1616-bur. 1616)
vii. Ellen (Helen) (bp. 1618-1638)
viii. Joseph (bp. 1620-)

5661 Katherine GREENE.  Born in 1584 in probably Thorpe Achurch, Northamptonshire, England. Died on 3 Feb 1650/51 in Roxbury, MA.

The marriage of Thomas and Katherine is recorded at Thorpe Achurch 27 January 1607/8, where they are listed as "Thomas Meakins of Oundle" and "Katherine Greene of Achurch daughter of Henry Greene." Katherine has been described as a sister of Thomas Bell, who arrived at Roxbury in 1634 and returned to England permanently in 1648. Thomas Bell died in London in 1672, and his will mentions "Thomas Makins, my sister's son in New England." Bell was from Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, while Katherine was from Northamptonshire, which is not adjacent to Suffolk. Thomas Bell was a well-to-do merchant, while Katherine was a servant. Thomas Bell was about the same age as the son Thomas Meakins who may have been dead by 29 January 1671/2, the date of Thomas Bell's will. The obvious conclusion is that the Thomas Makins in the will of Thomas Bell was not the son of Thomas and Katherine (Greene) Meakins.

5700 Thomas NEWBERRY.  Born on 10 Nov 1594 in Yarcombe, Devon, England. Died in Dec 1635 in Dorchester, MA.

Thomas was the sixth child of Richard Newberry and Grace Matthew. He came to America in Apr 1634.

He married Joan DABINOTT, abt 1619.

They had one child:
2850 i. Benjamin (~1624-1689)

5701 Joan DABINOTT.  Born abt 1600 in England. Died abt 1629 in England.

5702 Matthew ALLYN.  Born abt Apr 1605 in probably Braunton, Devonshire, England. Baptized on 17 Apr 1605 in Braunton, Devonshire, England. Died on 1 Feb 1670/1 in Windsor, Hartford, CT. Occupation: Merchant.

Matthew Allyn's first appearance in New England was in the grant of land in Cambridge on 4 November 1633 to seven men, of whom three others (JOHN HAYNES, THOMAS HOOKER and SAMUEL STONE) are known to have arrived 4 September 1633 on the Griffin.

Matthew Allyn seems out of place in Cambridge, as all others who arrived at about this time were from East Anglia; based on his English origin, one would expect Allyn to have resided first in Dorchester. This unusual residence for Allyn is probably tied up in some way with his relationship with WILLIAM SPENCER.

Besides being a man who was highly respected and who served society well, Matthew Allyn was a highly contentious man. He had lengthy legal disputes with his brother, and not long after he left Massachusetts he was wanted for "debt and damage" he had left behind [7 October 1641: "It is ordered, that a letter shal be sent to Mr. Haynes & the rest of the magistrates at Connectecot, to send back the prisoner Mathewe Alleyn, or satisfy the debt & damage"]. Further evidence of his litigiousness may be found throughout the Connecticut court records.

He married Margaret WYATT, on 2 Feb 1626/7 in Braunton, Devonshire, England.

They had the following children:
2851 i. Mary (1627-1703)
ii. John (1630-)

iv. Susannah (bp. 1603-)

5705 Mary Ann RUSSELL.  Born bef 4 Nov 1572 in Badby, Northampton, England. Baptized on 4 Nov 1572 in Badby, Northampton, England.

He married Johanna PITT, abt 1622 in England.

They had the following children:
2862 i. John (1624-1698)
ii. Johanna (1625-)
iii. Sarah (1627-)
iv. William (1630-)
v. Richard (1632-)
vi. George (1639-)

5725 Johanna PITT.

5732 Dr. Comfort STARR.  Baptized on 6 Jul 1589 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.

Among the passengers aboard the Hercules, which sailed from Sandwich, Kent, England, for New England in the early spring of 1634/5, were "Comfort Starre of Ashford in Kent Chirurgeon," three of his children, Thomas, Comfort, and Mary; two men servants, Samuel Dunkin and John Turvey (or Turbey), and one maid servant, Truth-Shall-Prevail Starre -- Veritas! At Ashford, Dr. Comfort Starr had been a leading citizen, a warden of beautiful St. Mary's Church, and a man of means, even to the point of being recorded as a lender of money. His Ashford real estate he never sold, but it descended to his son, Comfort, and to his grandsons Josiah, John, and George Starr.

He married Elizabeth.

They had the following children:
i. Thomas (~1616-)
ii. Mary (~1621-)
iii. Comfort (~1625-)
iv. Elizabeth
2866 v. John (1626-1704)
vi. Hannah
vii. Lydia

5733 Elizabeth.

5734 George BUNKER.  Born abt 1600 in probably Bengeo, Hertfordshire, England. Died in 1664 in Malden, MA.

This George Bunker is not to be confused with the George Bunker of Topsfield, who married Jane Godfrey and whose children lived at Nantucket.

George Bunker settled at Charlestown, MA, prior to 10 January 1633. He was a wealthy emigrant, and the largest owner of land in the area, including a lot on the summit of Bunker Hill, which is named for him. In 1663 he sold 238 acres to the town of Woburn. George Bunker was also a benefactor of Harvard College, to whom he gave eight acres of land in 1646. There is some presumptive evidence that he was from Bedfordshire, England.

He married Judith MAJOR, on 8 Sep 1624 in Odell, Bedfordshire, England.

They had the following children:
i. Mary (bp. 1625-1672)
2867 ii. Martha (bp. 1627-~1703)
iii. Elizabeth (bp. 1628-1703)
iv. John (bp. 1630-1672)
v. Joseph (bp. 1632-)
vi. Benjamin (bp. 1635-1669)
vii. Jonathan (bp. 1638-1678)
