I am a
descendant of ELI
MCWHORTER and ANNA
REAVES of Hancock
co., GA through their son WILLIAM
REAVES MCWHORTER. I am aware
that most or all of the sons of ELI and ANNA moved to TX
after the Civil War., but I have no knowledge of the fates of the daughters. If anyone who
traces their progenitors to ELI
and
ANNA would care to
correspond with me I have many questions that I am dying to ask.

I am the
great-grand daughter of JOHN
STEVEN MCWHERTER. He was born
somewhere in Indiana on 9-Jan-1881. He died in Clinton, Minnesota in 1957. I received this
information from a Litchfield newspaper and my Uncle regarding his death. He married a
woman named FRANCIS CONGWELL and they had 3
or 4 children; MAUDE, LESSIE, CLAUDE and unknown. I
am LESSIEs
granddaughter. At some point in his life JOHN lived somewhere
in Iowa then Clinton, Minnesota. Im not sure how he fits into the tree,
but in searching some of the web resources, Noble, Indiana seems to be a possible place of
birth for him. My family has always been under the impression that we are of Irish descent
from his side of the family.

Seeking info on
the family of GEORGE
MCWH*RTER, who died in
Hardin co., TN sometime during early 1847. In the 1850 census, his widow, MATILDA, appeared
with three children, AARON, ANNA and NARCISSA. It appears
that MATILDA died in
1854, and the children left the county shortly thereafter. Any additional info would be
appreciated, particularly on GEORGE and his son, AARON (who
relocated to Fulton co., KY).

I am
searching for a JEFF and EMILY MCWHIRTER who had a
daughter, ELSIE. They lived in
Aurora, MO in the first quarter of the 1900s. I believe JEFF was a
farmer. His wife EMILY was a
half-sister to my grandmother SARAH
CATHERN JONES MAIN. EMILY was older
than SARAH, so I
dont know if she was OLIVER JONES child or CORNELIA GRIFFENs child, my
grandmothers parents. Does anyone recall seeing these names?
