Christian Ghering was the third child of Christian and Christina LINK GOEHRING.   He was born in Taebingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany and emigrated to the US with his parents in 1843.

Chris hauled oil in the Cherrytree Township, PA region.  His main vocation was farming. He bought a farm near East Troy and lived there as a single man for two years. He married MARY ANN GOEHRING in Cherrytree Township on Feb. 24, 1870, Squire JIM STRAWBRIDGE officiating.

They had four children, Anna Ghering Shriver 1871 - 1948, Lucy Ghering Kees 1873 - 1959, Theodore C. Ghering 1881 - 1882, and Grace Ghering Williams 1888 - 1959. Howard Strawbridge, grandson of Anna Ghering Shriver was an editor at the Titusville newspaper for years. He donated a large collection of labeled Ghering family photos to the Venango County Historical Society in Franklin.

Christian and Mary joined the east Troy M. E. Church in 1877 under Rev. T. W. DOUGLAS. Chris was a trustee. He was a Troy Township road commissioner for a few years. He died of complications of enlargement of heart, dropsy and Bright's disease on Dec. 8, 1901. Burial was in East Troy Cemetery.

He married MARY ANN GHERING 21 February 1870 in Cherrytree Township, Pennsylvania, daughter of LUTHER GOERING.

ANNA BARBARA² GHERING (CHRISTIAN¹, CHRISTIAN^A GOEHRING/GHERING, JOHANNES^B GOEHRING, JOHANN GEORG^C, JOHANN CONRAD^D, JOHANN^E, CONRAD^F)⁷ was born 1871 in Pennsylvania^8,9, and died 1948¹⁰.  She married JACOB M. SHRIVER^11,12 May 1892 in Diamond, PA¹², son of JAMES SHRIVER and JANE ENSIGN.  He was born Abt. 1868 in Neilltown, Pennsylvania¹³, and died 03 February 1927 in Pennsylvania¹⁴.

3.  LUCY MAUDE² GHERING (CHRISTIAN¹, CHRISTIAN^A GOEHRING/GHERING, JOHANNES^B GOEHRING, JOHANN GEORG^C, JOHANN CONRAD^D, JOHANN^E, CONRAD^F)¹⁵ was born 21 April 1873 in East Troy, Troy Township, Crawford Co, PA¹⁶, and died 23 July 1959 in Titusville, Crawford Co., PA¹⁷.  She married JAMES HENRY KEES¹⁸ 24 March 1897 in Titusville, Crawford County, PA^19,20, son of JAMES KEES and ANNA SHUGGERT.  He was born 12 September 1864 in near Troy Center, PA²⁰, and died 22 January 1941 in Titusville, Crawford Co., PA²⁰.

WILLIAMS²³ 30 March 1905 in Jamestown, NY²⁴, son of WILLIAM WILLIAMS and MARTHA SHARPE.  He was born 09 February 1881 in Troy Township, PA²⁴, and died 27 December 1954 in Titusville, Crawford Co., PA²⁴.

EDWARDS³⁰ 02 January 1923³⁰, daughter of EMERY EDWARDS and ? ORWIG.  She was born Abt. 1898, and died 02 May 1926³⁰.  He married (2) ELIZABETH WALKER BUCHAN³¹ 18 April 1927³², daughter of THOMAS BUCHAN and MARY ?.  She was born 01 December 1892 in Airdrie, Scotland³³, and died 01 May 1937 in Diamond, PA³⁴.  He married (3) GRACE DAVISON³⁵ 17 September 1941³⁵.  She died 20 May 1971³⁵.
