Thomas E. Preston’s first land was 160 acres, patented on 23 Jan 1875, certificate #479, recorded in Volume 3, Page 76. Thomas & William both had some land in the next township east but would assume that the 160 acres where Thomas lived in section 26 was the land he patented. And then John’s land adjoined to the north of Thomas’. In present day terms Thomas’ land would be north of 63rd Street South, west of K-15 highway. The railroad track still runs along where it did in 1882. Sent to me by Bill Pennington, Sedgwick Co, KS, 19 Apr 1999.
