OBITUARY - MARY A. SMITH - 1905

Mary A. Smith died at Cedar Hill, Texas, Thursday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. of Bronchial 
Pneumonia.  Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Buckner, pastor of the Baptist 
Church, at 12 o'clock Friday and she was buried at Bethel Cemetery at 3 p.m.

She was born Dec. 22, 1871 in Grayson county, professed religion and joined the 
Baptist church at old Runnels Sept., 25, 1892, being baptized by Rev. W. O. Baker.

She leaves a husband, two girls and three boys.  These little ones are so dear to 
me and it is sad to think how lonely it will be without her smiling face.  God be with 
them day by day in all they do through life.  She strived very hard to teach them the 
way to the precious Saviour, would read the Bible to them at night and have them 
say their prayers and kiss "papa" and "mamma" goodnight.

How shall I give up those sweet, welcome letters that came so promptly and were 
so comforting to me.  "The world may seem icy and cold and we may have our trials 
and troubles but our Father in Heaven will aid and help us nd will never, no never, 
forsake."

Our loved one is gone to be with the Angels in Heaven.  She said there was room for 
one more in the hearse and asked us to bring her white slippers and white clothes,
that she was nearing the grave and the Great White Throne.  The last song I heard 
her sing and play is ringing today in my ear.  It was "Nearer My God to Thee."

Five of our dear children have gone to rest in that land so bright and fair.  God be with 
us that we may meet them in Heaven.

Note by Ethel Pearce Hayley:  This was written about Pride's death (next to last
paragraph).  The write up's were mixed about Mary and Pride's death.  They died 
within 5 months.
