OBITUARY OF ALLEN THOMPSON MURCHISON (1909) No dates or source of publication are given. One of Farmersville's best citizens passed away in the death of A.T. Murchison at the family residence at 9:40 o'clock Tuesday night after 2 weeks illness of pneumonia. The remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the funeral services being conducted at the cemetery pavilion by the Masonic order of which deceased was a worthy member. Mr. Murchison was born in North Georgia and was in his 56th year. He came to Texas when a young man and engaged in farming. A few years later he was married to Mollie Prior at Cedartown, Georgia, from which union the following are the surviving children: Linton H., Jack W., Annie, Lottie, Jennie, Mary and Fred Murchison. Mr. Murchison was and had been for many years engaged in the lumber business, and also left two good farms near town besides a splendid home right in the heart of this city as a credit to his industry. He was a most excellent man and from earliest youth possessed exemplary habits of morality, truthfulness, sobriety, etc. He was highly esteemed by everyone, and it is universally conceded that the community has lost a good and honorable citizen. To the bereaved children, who were only six weeks previous also bereft of their mother, the Times tenders sincerest sympathy. Submitted by Mary Love Berryman - marylove@tyler.net
