From the Tyler Morning Telegraph January 22, 1959 Mrs Mary Howell Dies In Greenville Funeral services for Mrs. Mary C.Howell of Greenville, a former Tyler resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church in Quinlan. She died in Greenville Tuesday. Mrs. Howell had lived in Tyler from 1938 to 1950 and was the mother of the late Mrs. Hoyt Berryman Sr. of Tyler. Survivors include three daughters,Mrs W. E. Joines of Greenville,Mrs. John Nunley of Bryson, and Mrs. G. A. Curfman of Terrell;two sons, Joe Howell of Mabank,and J. K. Howell of Corsicana;20 grandchildren, including five from Tyler; 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. ---------------------------------------------------- Mrs. J.K. Howell Services Thursday Mrs. J. K. Howell, 86, a native of Farmersville, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Joines, 2108 Jones, after an illness of several months. Born in Farmersville, April 2, 1872,she was the daughter of Roy Murchison and Lizzie Gill Murchison. Before coming to Greenville seven years ago to make her home with Mrs. Joines, she had lived with another daughter in Tyler. In 1897, she was married to James K. Howell in Farmersville and the couple moved to Quinlan in 1908. Mr. Howell died March 11, 1926. Mrs. Howell was a member of theQuinlan Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Quinlan Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Steger, pastor, and the Rev. B. J. Bell, pastor of the Park Street Baptist Church, Greenville, officiating. Burial will be made in the IOOF Cemetery in Quinlan under the direction of James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home. Grandsons will be pallbearers. The body will rest at the funeral home until shortly before service time. Survivors include two sons, Joe Howell of Mabank, TX, and J. K. Howell, Jr., of Corsicana; three daughters, Mrs. Joines, Greenville,Mrs. John Nunley, Bryson, TX, and Mrs. G. A. Curfman, Terrell; one brother, Charley Murchison, Terrell; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
