Sons of Mrs. R. L. Hayley, Bronte, In Military Service The Army is nothing new to Tech Sgt. Richard O. Hayley for he is now serving his fifth enlistment and wears four service stripes each representing three years. For one period of three years Hayley was under the command of Gen. MacArthur in the Philippines but about 10 years ago his regiment was transferred back to San Francisco where he has been stationed since. He is in charge of the officers mess at the Main Post of Presidio. Pfc. Royce Hayley and Pfc. Davis Hayley, brothers of Tech Sgt. Hayley, recently received a big surprise when they discovered they were both stationed at Sheppard Field in Specialist's training. Royce formerly lived in San Angelo and upon entering the Army was stationed at Goodfellow Field as a junior mechanic before being sent to Sheppard Field. Davis was working in California in the Vultee airplane factory before enlisting, and after entering the Army was sent to Luke Field, Ariz., and then on to Sheppard Field in a short time. They are the sons of Mrs. R. L. Hayley of Bronte, and the brothers of Mrs. Jack Morrison, 219 S. Adams. Mrs. Hayley has a grandson, Pvt. Don Hayley, who is also in service having entered the Marines about three months ago. He is the son of George Hayley of Seal Beach, Calif., formerly of Bronte. (No date or reference of where the article is published. There are two pictures. One has Roye and Davis Hayley under it - the other has Richard O. Hayley. This article was found in my Grandmother's scrapbook.)
