Wake County, North Carolina Register of Deeds Wake County Registry, 2 August 1866, Book 27, page 545 Samuel Harris & others vs Samuel L Harris, Jr This Indenture made the 2nd day of August in the year Eighteen Hundred and Sixty Six between Samuel Harris, Henry H Harris and wife Sarah D Harris all of the County of Franklin and State of North Carolina, Nathaniel Dunn and wife Mary Dunn all of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina, and Samuel Harris Agt. for the heirs of James Haley, Decd of the first part and Sameul L Harris, Jr. of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina of the Second part witnesseth that the said family of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred and Forty Dollars, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has given granted, bargained, sold, and conveyed, & does hereby give grant, bargain, sell and convey to the Said part of the second part, his heirs & assigns, all that tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Wake & Sate of North Carolina and known as the Dower tract of Widow Mary Haley Decd and bounded as follows Beginning at the State on Powells break in Wesley Stelles line, thence North along Said Stelles line Seventy (70) polls to a Stake Mrs. Susan Watkins corner, thence South Eighty Eight and half (88 1/2) East with Said Watkins line Two Hundred and Thirty Seven (237) polls to a Red Oak on Said Powells Creek thence down the various cources of the Said Creek to the beginning. Containing Eighty Four (84) Acres more or Less. To had and to hold the __________ minerals, thereunto belonging to the Said Samuel L Harris, Jr. the party of the Second part, his heirs & assigns forever. And the said party of the first part, for the consideration aforesaid doth hereby covenant and agree to covenant and defend the promises aforesaid to the Said Party of the Second part his executors, administrators and assigns against the claims and entry of all persons whatsoever, and he does further covenant that the Said Samuel Harris, Henry H Harris & wife Sarah P Nathaniel Dunn & wife Mary, and Samuel Harris Agt for the heirs of James Haley Decd is Seized of the premises in fee Simple and has power to make & convey such and same by these presents. Fowle one of the Judges of the Superior Court of Law & Equity for the State aforesaid of J H Bell a witness to the foregoing deed and being by one first duly sworn he proves the execution of the Same by Nathaniel Dunn and his wife Mary Dunn acknowledges the execution of the Same, and thereupon said Mary Dunn, the wife is privily examined by me Separate and apart from her husband and all others touching her free and voluntary execution of the Same and whether she doth now voluntarily assent thereto and in such her examination so had. She Saith she executed the same freely and voluntarily and further she doth now voluntarily assent to the Same, and also S. P. Cole a Subscribing witness thereto doth, after being duly Sworn proved the due execution of Said deed by Sallie P Harris, Henry H Harris, Samuel Harris and Samuel Harris as agent for James Hayley's heirs.
