(transcribed from a typed copy in Greta Proudfoot collection) The will of Sophia Davis made this 10th day of December, 1832, being weak in body, but of a sound disposing mind. First, I devise to have my body decently buried and direct God to take my soul who gave it and after my funeral expenses is paid, for my daughters to divide all and everything that is in the house equal between themselves, except as after was named, the little scellet (or sullet or cullet) I give Elizabeth Parker, and the cow to Obedience Warner. The mare to be sold and the money to be equally divided among all my children together with all the property and notes left to me by my husband, Joseph Davis, whenever the money becomes due or collected except to my son, Henry, I leave him one shilling to be deducted out of the notes I hold against him for the land he bought of his Father. As witness my hand and seal the day and your first above written. Sophia Davis signed with her mark (Seal) Signed, sealed in the presence of us: H.
