WILL OF JOHN BROCKMAN (1735-1801) In the Name of God Amen. I John Brockman of the State of South Carolina and District of Laurens, Being in a Low state of health but of sound and perfect memeory, do make constitute & ordain this my last will and testament in maner & form as following. Item I lend unto my Beloved wife Ameley Brockman the hold of my personal Estate together with the house and plantation whare I live on During her Life and after my death it is My will that my sun Hennery Brockman possess the other half of my said tract of Land including the Grismill that I possess on Enoree River that Being the hole of my Real Estate and after the death of my said wife Ameley Brockman it is allso my will tht my sun Hennery Brockman possess the other half of ny Said tract of land including the griss mill that I possess on Eroree river. That being the hold of my real Estate and after the Death of my said wife Amelia Brocknan it is also my will that my son Henrey Brockman do own and possess the hold of my real estate forever. It is also my will that if at any time after my death my said wife Amelia Brocknan shall think proper to sell or dispose of any parte of the said Estate, it is my will that such sail or disposal shall forever bee good in law, etc. It is also my will that after the Death of my said wife Amelia Brockman that the hold of my personnal Estate then remaining bee publickley sold except one still and boiller and materials belonging to said distillerey which is to be disposed of in manner under written and the money arising from the sale of the said Estate is to bee divided in manner and form as follows that is to say to bee equalley divided betwean my beloved children Anney Parks, Marah Dean, Frankey Mullins, and Henery Brocknan and whereas my daughhter Lucey is dead and has left three children, to wit; Betsey Owens and Amelia Owens and John Henrey Owens it is my will that the said three children Betsey Amelia and John Henrey Owens shall have one fifth parte of my said personal Estate which is equal to one childs parte. My Sun Henrey Brocknans parte onley excepted, and that fifth parte of my said parsonnal estate to be equally divided between the three children Betesy Ameley and John Henrey Owens and whereas I have left to my three grandchildren a childs parte it is my will that the father of the said children Betsey Owens and Amelia Owens anci John Henrey Owens shall not have more than one shilling sterling of my s 'd Estate--that is to say John Owens Sen'r - and whereas my daughter Frankey Mullins has no eshue it is my will that at her death the hold of her parte of this Estate togeather with a negro man named James that I have lent her shall revert back to be egually divided amongst the lawful heirs of my bodey-and also it is my will that Thomas Mullins husband to the above mentioned Frankey Mullins shall not have more than one shilling sterling of this s'd estate. It is also my will that the still and boiller and utensels belonging to the said distillerey as within mentioned after the Death of my said wife Amelia Brocknan be delivered to my gran sun John Brocknan sun of Henrey Brocknan unto him forever, etc. and Lastley I appoint my beloved wife Amelia Brockman Excetrix and my sun Henrey Brockaan Exeter of this my last will and testement and I do hereby revoke and disnnual all other wills by me made.
