Snowden Family

                      Generation One

1.  Capt. Richard Snowden; b. 1640; m. Deborah Abbot, daughter of
William Abbot and Magdella; 1st wife; m. Elizabeth Grosse, daughter of
Roger Grosse and Anne; 2nd wife; d. May 1711 at Anne Arundel Co., MD;
bur. 20 May 1711.
     He was a Captain of Militia between 1696 and 1703 at Anne Arundel
Co., MD.

     Known children of Capt. Richard Snowden and Deborah Abbot were:
     2.          i. Capt. Richard Snowden III, b. 1665 at Birmingham,
                    England; m. Mary Linthicum.


                      Generation Two

2.  Capt. Richard Snowden III (Richard1); b. 1665 at Birmingham,
England; m. Mary Linthicum, daughter of Thomas Linthicum and Jane,
before 1688; d. after 1717 at Anne Arundel Co., MD.
     He was a Captain of Militia in 1695/96 at Anne Arundel Co., MD.

     Mary Linthicum was born in 1670. She died after 1717.
     Known children of Capt. Richard Snowden III and Mary Linthicum
were as follows:
                 i. Thomas Snowden; bur. 2 Jul 1704.
     3.         ii. Richard Snowden, b. 1688; m. Eliza Jane Coale; m.
                    Elizabeth Thomas.


                     Generation Three

3.  Richard Snowden (Richard2, Richard1); b. 1688; b. 1690; m. Eliza
Jane Coale, daughter of William Coale and Elizabeth Sparrow, 3mo 19
1709; 1st wife; m. Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Samuel Thomas and
Mary Hutchins, 10mo 19 1717; 2nd wife; d. 26 Jan 1763; d. 1775.
     He resided at 'Birmingham Manor', Prince George's Co., MD.

     Eliza Jane Coale was born on 3 Dec 1692. She died circa 1713.
     Known children of Richard Snowden and Eliza Jane Coale were as
follows:
     4.          i. Deborah Snowden, m. James Brooke.
     5.         ii. Elizabeth Snowden, m. John Thomas.
     6.        iii. Mary Snowden, b. circa 1712 at Maryland; m. Samuel
                    Thomas.

     Elizabeth Thomas was born on 29 Dec 1698. She left a will; proved
9 Aug 1775. She died in 1775.
     Known children of Richard Snowden and Elizabeth Thomas were as
follows:
                 i. Richard Snowden; b. 1719/20; m. Elizabeth Crowley,
                    daughter of John Crowley and Miriam, circa 3 Oct
                    1748; d. 18 Mar 1750; d.s.p.
                    He left a will; proved 11 Apr 1753.
                ii. Thomas Snowden; b. circa 1722; m. Mary Wright,
                    daughter of Henry Wright and Elizabeth Sprigg,
                    before 1744; d. May 1770.
                    He resided at Prince George's Co., MD.
               iii. Ann Snowden; m. Henry Wright Crabb.
     7.         iv. Margaret Snowden, m. John Contee.
                 v. Elizabeth Snowden; b. 1726; m. Joseph Cowman.
     8.         vi. Samuel Snowden, b. "11-2-1728" at Maryland; m.
                    Elizabeth Thomas.
               vii. John Snowden; b. 1730; m. Rachel Hopkins, daughter
                    of Richard Hopkins.
                    He married Rachel at the age of 40. He resided at
                    'Birmingham Manor', Prince George's Co., MD.


                     Generation Four

4.  Deborah Snowden (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1); m. James Brooke,
son of Roger Brooke and Elizabeth Hutchins, 21 Jun 1725; 1st wife;
d. 29 Apr 1758.

     James Brooke was born on 21 Feb 1705 at Prince George's Co., MD.
He died on 11 Mar 1784 at Montgomery Co., MD, at age 79.
     Known children of Deborah Snowden and James Brooke include:
                 i. Basil Brooke; b. 13 Dec 1738 at Maryland; m.
                    Elizabeth Hopkins, daughter of Gerard Hopkins and
                    Mary Hall, 1 May 1764; d. 22 Aug 1794 at Maryland
                    at age 55.

5.  Elizabeth Snowden (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1); m. John Thomas,
son of Samuel Thomas and Mary Hutchins, Apr 1727.

     John Thomas was born on 15 Apr 1697. He died in Feb 1749/50 at
age 52.
     Known children of Elizabeth Snowden and John Thomas include:
                 i. John Thomas; b. 1734; m. Margaret Hopkins,
                    daughter of Gerard Hopkins and Mary Hall; d. 15
                    Feb 1826.

6.  Mary Snowden (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1); b. circa 1712 at
Maryland; m. Samuel Thomas, son of Samuel Thomas and Mary Hutchins, 11
Aug 1730; d. 15 Aug 1755 at Maryland.

     Samuel Thomas was born on 12 Nov 1702 at Maryland. He was a
Quaker minister. He died on 3 Feb 1780 at Maryland at age 77.

7.  Margaret Snowden (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1); m. John Contee.

     Known children of Margaret Snowden and John Contee include:
                 i. Catherine or Elizabeth Contee; m. James Keith, son
                    of Rev. James Keith and Mary Isham Randolph.

8.  Samuel Snowden (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1); b. "11-2-1728" at
Maryland; m. Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Philip Thomas and Ann Chew;
d. 27 Jun 1801 at Maryland.

     Elizabeth Thomas died on 30 Jan 1790.
     Known children of Samuel Snowden and Elizabeth Thomas include:
                 i. Ann Snowden; m. Richard Hopkins, son of Gerard
                    Hopkins and Mary Hall, 23 Dec 1774; d. 16 Mar
                    1818.
                ii. Sarah Snowden; m. Dr. Elisha Hopkins, son of
                    Gerard Hopkins and Mary Hall; 2nd wife.
