1. Joseph¹ McIlvaine was born circa 1700 at Ayr, Scotland; he married Anna Rogerson, daughter of Thomas Rogerson, 1 Jun 1721 at Ayrshire, Ireland; 1st wife; he married Jane Hunter, daughter of Adam Hunter; 2nd wife, no issue; he died May 1762 at Ayr, Scotland.
He resided at Ayr, Scotland. He resided at Ireland; fled there to avoid religious persecution.

She may have been the dau. of either Anna Rogerson or Jane Hunter. She resided at Ayr, Scotland.

Jane Hunter died in May 1762. She resided at Baillie, Scotland.

William² McIlvaine (Joseph¹) was born 31 Mar 1722 at Ayrshire, Scotland; he married Anne Emerson, daughter of Caleb Emerson and Mary North, May 1742; 1st wife; he married Margaret Cross 3 Dec 1766; 2nd wife, no issue; he died 1770 at 'Fair View', Bristol, Bucks Co., PA; he was buried at Presbyterian Cemetery, Newtown, Bucks Co., PA.
He was a shipping merchant. He immigrated circa 1745 to Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Independant Company of Foot under Capt. John Kidd in 1756. He left a will on 26 Jan 1770 at Bucks Co., PA; proved 4 Oct 1770.

i. Joseph³ McIlvaine was born 21 Feb 1749; he married Catherine Swan 1767 at Lancaster Co., PA; he died 17 Feb 1787 at Bucks Co., PA, at age 37; he was buried at Bristol, Bucks Co., PA.
He had 1 child. He resided at Bristol Twp., Bucks Co., PA. He was a Maj. in the First Battalion of the Bucks Associators. Later promoted to Lt. Col in 1777.

Dr. William³ McIlvaine (William², Joseph¹) was born in Jul 1750 at Philadelphia, PA; he married Margaret Rodman, daughter of William Rodman and Mary Reeve, 6 Nov 1773 at Burlington, NJ; 1st wife; he married Rebecca Coxe, daughter of William Coxe and Mary Francis, 2 Dec 1782 at Philadelphia, PA; 2nd wife; he married Mary Shippen, daughter of Edward Shippen and Margaret Francis, 16 Jun 1785 at Philadelphia, PA; 3rd wife; he died 16 Sep 1806 at Burlington, NJ, at age 56; he was buried at St. Mary's Church, Burlington, NJ.
He was a physician. He resided at Philadelphia, PA. He resided at 'Fairview', Bristol, Bucks Co., PA. He was graduated circa 1773 at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a Capt. in the First Battalion of the Bucks Associators in 1775. He was a surgeon in Col. Read's Regiment in 1776. He resided circa 1793 at Burlington, Burlington Co., NJ.
Margaret Rodman was born on 20 Sep 1752. She died in Feb 1781 at age 28. She was buried at St. James Church, Bristol, Bucks Co., PA.

iv. Rachel McIlvaine was born at Newtown, PA; she married Dr. John Ruan 12 Feb 1805; 2nd wife; she died 16 Nov 1820.

Rebecca Coxe was born on 3 Feb 1760. She married Samuel Witham Stockton. She died in Sep 1783 at age 23. She was buried at St. Mary's Church, Burlington, NJ. She resided at Burlington, NJ.

i. Rebecca⁴ McIlvaine was born 1783; she married Joshua Maddox Wallace 28 Dec 1805 at Mt. Holly, NJ; she died 1845.

ii. Lt. Edward Shippen McIlvaine was born 1 Oct 1787 at Philadelphia, PA; he married Esther Rodman, daughter of William Rodman and Esther West, 21 Oct 1812; he died 13 Sep 1843 at age 55.

4. Joseph Bloomfield⁴ McIlvaine (William³, William², Joseph¹) was born 15 Jan 1790 at Bristol, Bucks Co., PA; he married Mary Ann Murray, daughter of Commodore Alexander Murray and Mary Miller, 31 Jul 1812; he died 14 Jul 1847 at Philadelphia, PA, at age 57.

Alexander Murray⁵ McIlvaine (Joseph⁴, William³, William², Joseph¹) was born 7 Jun 1815 at Philadelphia, PA; he married Mary Cowperthwaite Olden, daughter of Dr. Joseph Olden and Elizabeth Rodman, 19 Jul 1842 at 'Flushing', Bensalem, Bucks Co., PA; he died 10 Aug 1888 at Philadelphia, PA, at age 73.
