JESSIE WOMACK MOORHEAD'S MANUSCRIPT

Written in 1961

I came across this manuscript about 20 years ago at our local Library here in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was on loan from the Tangipahoa Parish Library in Amite, Louisiana. Many years ago I decided to type it up so I could share it with everyone that I corresponded with. The sharing has has worked out great, with the exception of one person. I sent it to RICHARD R. DIETZ of California , on disk through the mail. In return he sent me a copy of the Manuscript of Martha McDaniel Thompson on disk through the mail. He promptly copyrighted Jessie Womack Moorhead's work, and is selling it on his web page. His Publishing Company Since it was on my web page before he copyrighted it, I have left it here for "everyone" who is searching for their ancestors. The least he could have done was give me credit for Re-typing the manuscript from a "pre-computer" copy. He is the reason I placed my Copyright notice on my web pages. Some people think only of money they can make. Be aware what you share with others. I wasn't!

In it Mrs. Moorhead has included the names of the people who helped her, along with others who worked on this project. At the beginning of the next page, I started with WILLIAM WOMACK who we now know married MARY JANE ALLEN. I can't remember where I got this copy of their descendants??? Then I added my line of descent from RICHARD WOMACK IV on down to me.

The beginning of the manuscript has the descent from the Royal Houses of Europe. About half way through, it shows where the BERNARD, and GAINES families married into the WOMACKS. There is quite a lot of information on different WOMACK lines closer to the end.

I know from reading the WOMACK GENEALOGY quarterlies, June , 1957, Vol 1, No. 1, pg. 30 ....... Jessie Womack Moorhead sent in her family line, and states that she is 72 years old at that time. I do not know where or when she died.

I, in no way, take any credit for this work. I have simply re-typed it to place it here for research purposes. I can take no credit, but also can not be responsible for any mistakes herein. If anyone finds some mistakes, I would appreciate it if you would let me know, so maybe I can correct them. I know that there has been lots of information found since 1961, and if you would like to add your WOMACK lines here on my page I will be gald to do so. The originial manuscript had 40 or more pages.

Martha McDaniel Thompson's manuscript,
"Some Descendants of William Womack, The Immigrant.

This manuscript was written by Martha McDaniel Thompson, of Redding, California and it was last updated in 1982. She used a variety of sources; references to most of which she incorporated into the text. In addition, she used many abbreviations, some of which are listed on the first page.

I have placed this copy of it here strictly for research purposes. I have "no idea" if it contains mistakes, or if all documentation is correct. I only hope it will contain clues and or data to help everyone with their research on their family history.

I intended to take the time to format it for the web. Which would have taken me a while to finish this. So for now, I have just put it up "as is"... I broke it up into seperate pages with the hope of it being easier to read and decifer who is who.

SOOO, here's hoping you find some clue that you can use!.... Markie
