James Mannion/Manion, born in England or Ireland about 1787, migrated to Carleton County, "Upper Canada," (Ontario) by 1820, lived in Goulbourn and Huntley Townships, and migrated to Boone County, Iowa, in 1867. 

Photo likely taken in Ontario.  James died in 1867, within a few months of the family's arrival in Boone County. 

James is possibly the brother of Andrew, Martin, Ann, Margaret, Esther, Denis, John, and possibly three others.

Margaret is believed to be the daughter of Denis Tierney and his first wife, Margaret (Egan).

James Mannion Sr. and Margaret (Tierney) were married 21 February 1830,
at the Notre-Dame Cathedral, 60 rue Guigues, Bytown (beginning in 1855 called Ottawa),
Ontario, Carleton County, Canada. 

James "Manning" was age 43and Margaret (Tierney) was age 20.   The marriage transcript does not
state parents' names.  At the time of this marriage, Margaret was from Nepean Twp.
    in Carleton County, Ontario, and James was from Goulbourn Twp., adjacent to Huntley Twp.
    Witnesses were John Ring and William Burnet; Officiant Angus McDonell, p.p. (parish priest)
