ST BLAZEY - dedicated to St Blaise

The Parish Church is situated on the main A390 road three miles east of St Austell. It was consecrated around 1445 There are some interesting memorials in the church including two slate ones and a piece of medieval stained glass in the tower window.

St Blaise was a bishop to the Armenian people in the 4th century and was martyred; he is the patron saint of wool combers and throat diseases. St Blaise Church originally came under the priory at Tywardreath and after the Reformation was part of the parish of St Austell until the middle of the 19th century when it became a parish on its own.

Access. If the Church is locked the key can be obtained from the vicarage opposite.
