Tower Bells

The attractive Victorian church was built in 1849, on the edge of the 18th century harbour village of Charlestown, and within the growing town of St. Austell. The architect was Christopher Eales and the building consists of a chancel and nave, with lean-to north and south aisles, transepts with a porch and tower ' at the north end of the west aisle.

In 1971 the tower was completed and a fibreglass spire added. The tower contains a very light peal of six bells by Taylor of Loughborough.

Points of interest to the visitor include the fact that it was the first Church in the Diocese to have a central nave Altar at the crossing of the transepts, the re-ordering being done by F. Dykes Bower. The belfry screen is also worthy of note.

The Church is open during daylight hours.
