William Caile
Caile Census
Military Records

William Caile enlisted in a North Carolina regiment from Kingston, NC to fight in the Revolutionary War.  He served as a fifer.  His regiment was in Charleston until the city was evacuated, and then moved on to James Island until the end of the war.

In 1809 William married Ruth Sykes Weathers, and the couple settled in Screven and Bulloch Counties in Georgia.  They had 5 sons (William, Budd, Coleman, John, and Homer) and 2 daughters (Dovey and Martha).  John married Frances Redding in 1845 and the couple moved to Marion County, Florida by 1860. The John Caile family remained in North Central Florida, living in both Marion and Putnam Counties.

These pages contain records which should prove helpful in researching the Caile surname.  Currently I have posted census records from Perquimans County, NC (1800-1850 census years).  I plan to publish, in the near future, other census records from NC, GA, and FL pertaining to this surname and its variant spellings.
