These pages document the Price and Baldwin families of Putnam County, Florida, as well as their ancestors in the Carolinas. James and Elvy Balwin moved from Columbus County, North Carolina to Duval County, Florida in the late 1840's. James was a successful planter and pioneer in north central Florida. Laban and Sarah (Smith) Price married in Marion County, South Carolina in 1848 and moved to Melrose, Putnam County, Florida in 1860, travelling by ship from Charleston to Fernadina Beach. Laban served in the Florida Infantry and Signal Corps during the Civil War. Major surnames include Baldwin, Caile, Godwin, Grantham, Lewis, Nichols, Pearce, Price, Sikes, and Smith. |
