Notes: Info from Evelyn Smith: "Upon application the court appoints Daniel Montgomery, guardian over the Person of Estate of JOHN DRAKE, a minor son of JOHN DRAKE deceased he being above the age of fourteen years", Northumberland County PA Orphans' Court records, Vol 2, page 127. Therefore John had to have been born bef 5 Jul 1777. It appears that John would have become the age of majority by 1795, because, in 1795 John Drake, son of the late John Drake deceased,petitioend the Orphan's court to "enjoy the premises' of his father's property. The document states that John Drake had died about twenty ears previously. The court document names heirs, a brother, Joseph; a sister, Mary (deceased) , who married Peter Owman; Mary's daughter Mary; and Elizabeth Goodana, late Elizabeth Drake, intermarried to Daniel Goodan. An inquest was ordered--Northumberland CO PA Orphan's Court, Vol 2, page 246 The Inquest of Partitionor valuation was reutned on Aug 28, 1795. Orphan's Court, Vol 3, page 13, the Court document states that John is the eldest son of John Drake, not the oldest child. The court orders John Drake to pay all heirs interest on one-third of the valuatin of the estate-- Orphans Court, Nov 1798, Vol 3, page 151.
