Data from Elizabeth Hubert - 1984:  Londonderry - Derry is distinctly a SCOTTish settlement, mostly 
SCotch-Irish, predominantly Presbyterian.  Was settled in 1719.  The original proprietors 
ROBERT WEIR, WM. HUMPHREY and the REID family came shortly after.  Referenced by 
Leonard Morrison

Information from Elizabeth Hubert who researched the Consitution in Washington DC, 11th floor of 
the U. S. Coast Guard.  Stephen Holland Reid served on the Frigate "Constitution", this was during 
the Barbary War with Tripoli, for two years.  Constitution, often called Old Ironsides, 44 gun frigate, 
one of the  most famous vessels in the history of the US Navy.  The Constitution was Commisssioned 
& put to sea in 1798 for service against French privateers and was used in the War of 1812, the 
frigate, under the Command of Isaac Hull, fought in Aug 1812, with the Gueriere, a British warship, 
leaving it a total wreck after an engagement of 30 minutes.  In Dec  of that year, under the Comand 
of Capt Wm. BAinbridge, the Constitution captured the British frigate Java off Bahia, Brazil.  On 
Feb 10, 1815, it captured the Cayne and the Levant, 2 British ships, after an engagement between 
the Madeira Islands and Gibraltar.  Soon afterward the british squadron recaptured the Levant.  
Reported unseaworthy about  1829, the Constitution was ordered dismantled, but the order was 
rescinded & the ship retained in deference to the sentiment aroused in the poem "Old Ironsides' 
by the  American poet Oliver Wendell Holmes;   In 1833 the ship was rebuilt, and in 1855 it was
used as a training ship.  In 1877 the Constitution  was again rebuilt and the following year it made 
a final voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. From 1927 to 1930 the ship was once more rebuilt, with 
funds procured by popular subscription & Congressional appropriation.  The frigate is now on

Mapes and Harriett Williams.  He was born 1855 in Illinois, and died 1915 in Illinois.

Obituary:  MARILLA S. MAPES
Jacksonville, Aug 13 -- Mrs. MARILLA S. MAPES, 84  a resident of Morgan county all her life, 
died at Passavant Hospital last night from injuries sustained Aug. 8 when she fell at her home.
Decedent was born on a farm northwest of this city Aug. 18, 1853, the daughter of Abraham and 
Ann Mary Reid.  Four children survive:  S. L. MAPES, San Bernardina, CA;  REUBEN MAPES, 
MRS. Lincoln CoWDEN and MRS. GEORGE BUSEY of Jacksonville.
A Coroner's jury today found that death was due to exhaustion and a fractured right hip, caused 
when she fell at the home of LINK CoWDIN, where she was staying.
Funeral services will be held at the Cody and Son Memorial home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. In charge 
of the services is Rev. Francis E. Smith of Macon, Ill.  Burial will take place in Ebenezer Cemetery.
