Arthur J.W. Wohlers
Jacksonville --- Arthur J.W. Wohlers, 65, R.R. 4, Morgan County farmer formerly of the Chapin Community, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday at Passavant Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with the Williamson Funeral Home in charge.
He is survived by his widow, Gladys (Hamilton); four sons, Owen, Waverly; Ralph, Franklin; Melvin, Jacksonville, and Gerald, at home; eight daughters, Mrs. Beulah Ginder, Mrs. Lenora Lovekamp and Mrs. Norma Lovekamp, all of Jacksonville; Mrs. Mary Dufelmeier, Arenzville; Miss Roberta Wohlers, Lincoln; and Betty, Thelma and Ruth Wohlers, all at home; two sisters, three brothers and 12 grandchildren.

Gladys Hamilton Wohlers rode a horse and buggy to school until she reached high school then her dad bought her an old used Model-T. About that time, she lost her ring finger in a horse accident.

Gladys L. Hamilton Wohlers
Gladys L. Wohlers, 89, of R.R. 4, Jacksonville, died Monday afternoon, May 1, 1995 at Modern Care Convalescent Facility.
She was born Jan 3, 1906, in Chapin, the daughter of Owen P. and Phyllis DeSollar Hamilton. She was married to Arthur J.W. Wohlers on Feb. 16, 1926, in Chapin. He preceded her in death March 12, 1962.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Lloyd (Beulah) Ginder of Arenzville; Melvin (wife Naomi) Wohlers of Jacksonville; Mrs. Paul (Mary) Dufelmeier of Arenzville; Mrs. Howard (Lenora) Lovekamp of Custer Park; Roberta Wohlers of Jacksonville; Ralph (wife, Thelma) of Franklin; Mrs. Martin (Norma) Lovekamp of Florissant, MO; Mrs. Robert (Betty) Essex of Phoenix, AZ; Mrs. Jerry (Thelma) Barrington of Jacksonville; Gerald (wife, Cheryl) Wohlers of Geneva; Ruth Cotrell of Scott County; and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Owen (Catherine) Wohlers of Jacksonville; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grand children; three step great-great-grand children; and two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Ina Marie) Mueller of Jacksonville and Margaret Ann Miller of Virden. She was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard Wohlers, who died in infancy, and Owen Wohlers; a son-in-law, Martin Lovekamp; three grandchildren; one sister, Alene Hamilton; and one brother, Charles William Hamilton, who died in infancy.
Mrs. Wohlers was a homemaker and a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Salem Lutheran Church with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The remains will be brought to the church one hour prior to services. Visitation was held Wednesday evening at Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
