If you are ready to create your own homepage, then Freepages at RootsWeb is for you. There is no cost, just as the name implies. Homepages without advertising banners are also available as a contributor's benefit.

 

GenConnect [Bulletin Boards]
The GenConnect boards are one of our most popular resources. They are similar to a mailing list, as researchers share messages with each other on a specific surname, region, or topic. But they differ in other ways. A mailing list message is sent to all the subscribers of that list and you receive the messages each time they are distributed. GenConnect boards are more static, like a bulletin board, where you post your message for others to find and you choose when to review the postings on the board.

Each surname, region, or topic has a suite of GenConnect boards. Currently there are seven types of boards within each suite: Query, Bible Record, Biography, Deed, Obituary, Pension, and Wills. To explore this program you will start at http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/index.html

RootsLink [Link Registry]
RootsLink is an index of genealogical sites that will help you in your research. The index includes sites housed at RootsWeb, as well as those that are housed on other servers. You can access the RootsLink database from the Surname and County Resource pages, or http://resources.rootsweb.com/~rootslink/search.html

To add your homepage to the RootsLink database, use the form at http://resources.rootsweb.com/~rootslink/addlink.html or the submission form accessible through the appropriate Surname or County Resources page. Your URL will not appear on the Resource pages, unless you use the form specific to the page itself (follow the link for RootsLink searches in the Web sites area).
