OTHER INFORMATION
Madison County was organized in 1810. It was named in honor of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States, who was in office at the time the county was formed.
The county has some of the largest farms in the state, a few covering 5,000 acres. London, the county seat, has for a long time been important for its stockyards. The newest is one of the largest in this part of the country.
County Health Department has birth & death records; Probate Judge has marriage & probate records; Clerk of Courts has divorce records from 1800's & civil court records; County Recorder has land records.
