Folks who are researching in Lucas county Ohio or had some one born here and you live close to Toledo Ohio, The Vital Statistics office told me yesterday when I called about getting my grandfathers birth certificate, she asked me if I was a GENEALOGIST. I said "yes why?" She said that on Tuesday, Wednesday morning and afternoon you can go down to Toledo Health Department and do your own searching for your people you are searching for their births in Lucas County. Then if you find them you fill out a card and pay the $2 for uncertified or $7 for certified birth certificate and get it back in ONE week. Call them for hours at 419-245-1751.

OTHER INFORMATION

Lucas County is situated at the western tip of Lake Erie and borders the state of Michigan. It was named for Governor Robert Lucas, who declared war on Michigan over a boundary dispute in 1835.

The county seat of Toledo covers about 86 square miles and is said to have the most diversified economy of Ohio's eight metropolitan areas. Toledo is the largest soft coal shipping port in the world, the ninth largest port in the nation and the third largest rail center in the nation.

Other principle industries include; transportation equipment, machinery, stone-clay-glass, metals, food, automobiles, spray painting equipment, steel castings, vegetables, greenhouse and nursery products.

Probate Judge has birth records from 1865 to 1908, divorce records after 1935 & probate records; Clerk of Courts has divorce & civil court records from 1850.
