OTHER INFORMATION

Delaware County, was named for the Delaware Indians who in turn got their name from their original home along the Delaware River.

Before the white man established settlements in the region, Delaware and Wyandot Indians lived here attracted by mineral springs. The Indians remained even after the town of Delaware, the current county seat, was settled. It is the home of Ohio Wesleyan University, founded in 1842.

Dairy products are the agricultural industry. Other principle industries in Delaware County are; metals, stone-clay-glass, food hydraulic pumps, air conditioning units, brick, gray iron castings, gas and electric ranges, and truck bodies.

Probate Court has birth, death, marriage & probate records; Chancery County has divorce & civil court records from 1825.
