the History net Where History Lives on the Web (This is an excellent archive site where you can choose from many history subjects including Civil War, Great Battles, World War II.)

The Lawrence Register (Genealogical and Historical Website for Lawrence County, Ohio)

The Making of America Collection (It is made up of images of the pages in books and journals of American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. It also has the Ohio Gazetteer 1860-1861 listing names and businesses.)

The Mining Company Reviews of Genealogy Home Pages (A review of some of the best genealogy sites on the Internet by reviewer Terri Lamb who does a good job scoring each site. You can get some great ideas for home pages at this site.)

The National Archives maintains a wonderful website chock full of information to assist you in genealogical research. (This site is slow loading and often busy)

The Quaker Corner (A Repository of Resources For Enhancing Your Quaker Genealogical Research!)

The U.S. Geological Survey has a site where you enter selected information such as state and place and you will be returned a table that shows county name.

The USGS National Mapping Division main page -- Select GNIS (on the left side of the page) and you'll go to a page with a great selection of links for finding almost anyplace in the world. Select "U.S. and Territories" and you'll be at the Query Form.
